Has anyone taken metformin while pregnant?  I am currently on metformin but my doctor told me to stop taking them at 9 weeks, but I am scared to bc I dont want to have a miscarriage.  Any thoughts on what I should do?

In my first pregnancy (no longer insulin resistant) my doctor told me to cease metformin the moment it was confirmed that I was pregnant because it could harm the baby. I would express a concern of potential fear of losing baby and maybe they can monitor you more closely to assess whether or not they need to give you a different kind of med to sustain your pregnancy. ..although you and baby will propbably be more than fine.  I dont know your fertility background  but I was told I couldn't have kids and nor would I be a good candidate for fertility treatments, but, I had a healthy baby girl in July 2013 (prior to pregnancy was taking metformin For 1 year) and by May 2014 I was naturally pregnant (after baby #1 I was no longer insulin resistant so I hadn't taken metformin) again with a baby who's doing splendid. Sorry for the long reply, but I said all of that to say that I was able to sustain a healthy pregnancy after being told to stop metformin and then went on to get pregnant again with no metformin...so...i think that as long as you take your vitamins, rest up and follow doctors orders you and baby will be happily enjoying each others company when showtime arrives.

Best wishes and congrats!!!
