metronidazole for bv..11 weeks..scared of the risks

I am 11 weeks along...I have bv and am very high risk due to having my son at 25 weeks..I read don't use this product if u are high risk...I also read lots of preterm births and cleft pallates. I am scared to use this gel..anyone use this before?

thank u for the input.  I am having real bad symptoms now.. they are the less common ones and the ones where it says to call ur doc..very weak arms,tingling can't really move them very Good...stomach aches bad and nausea..I'm calling him tomorrow.thank u so much for ur concerns and input

Oh hmm thats odd - the antibiotics they gave me were called the same thing but in pill form! (: I say trust their judgement though, and have faith that this pregnancy will be different. Women who have had seven babies can have a completely different pregnancy than all the others with their eighth! Don't stress so much

he never gave me any meds..no pills ..its the gel that he gave me to put (up there ) I'm high risk..had a preemie at 25 weeks..so scary..I'm a scaredy cat too lol

I was scared when they prescribed it to me too but its better to take your antibiotics when they tell you too - your doctor wouldn't prescribe it if he thought it was more dangerous for you than having bv. Bv isn't all that bad cuz they never retested me after I took my course of antibiotics, but it does slightly heighten our chances of preterm birth. Take your meds, girl!(: I never take pills unless I'm pretty damn sure I'm better off with them than without - I don't even take advil/aspirin for headaches or pains when I wasn't pregnant cuz I'm a scaredy cat with pills
