mom got hit by someone who was texting and driving

Anyone else experienced this, my mom was hit by a person who was texting and driving and ran a red light and totaled her vehicle she is now waiting on the settlement, she should be getting it within the next couple weeks she says she wants to buy me a crib and a more reliable vehicle for the baby, but I'm not sure if she will have enough if not me and my husband were gonna go ahead and put the crib in lawaway and pay on it and just trade our car in next week. So has anyone you know or if you expierenced this how much you got back. Cause my mom is getting her hopes up bless her heart and I want to warn her ahead of time   .

Settlements could take a long time to get because insurance companies like to drag their feet. I know a few people that didnt get their money until a year after their accident. As far as the amount, depends if she was hurt, hospital bill costs, attorney costs etc..... I wouldnt wait for the money to get the things you need.

Did she go to the hospital? My mom got a good bit. She bought me a few things. I was in the wreck with her and I got enough to buy a crib, stoller carseat set, playyard.

Getting a settlement can take a long time, my sisters boyfriend waited 2 years for his settlement after someone ran him over twice and crushed part of his skull.

If they are done with treatment and working on closing and or settlement, it could be in a month or so. Sometimes settlements don't work out and the cases go to trial. If that happens it will take a lot more time.
