Try to focus on the positives as much as possible like apart from the heart condition she is healthy and has no problems with other organs which some babies have multiple problems....even though its very hard and being nervous is totally normal but just try to remember alot of heart conditions go without diagonoses or develop after birth...even babies with normal hearts still need the heart to close after birth so thats in all pregnancies and babies which some dont. By knowing so early care plans are in place and many children with heart conditions thrive and you wouldnt know they had one theres a lot of worries in pregnancy but doctors and surgeons are beyond amazing and can do complete corrective surgery on alot of heart conditions even if its not thought of at first. I say a prayer for you now. I know how you feel though and having the baby shows how brave you are already. Lucky her to have a mum like you.

I agree you are so lucky to have found it so early and have time to prepare. Hopefully that means she will have the best possible outcome. Best of luck to you both and try not to stress too much. Trust that the doctors know what they are doing.

My baby has tga, which means the left and right ventricles of her heart are the wrong way round so she will need open heart surgery at 2 days old, they are inducing a week or 2 early because i have to travel 3 hours to the hospital and its better planned because they can have everyone on standby ready to deal with it
Thank you all x

I know what you mean. My daughter had vsd at birth and she has been pretty much cleared by her cardiologist at 11 years old yet I still have this paranoia...what if something was missed or what if something happens while she is at school. I worry for all of my kids but I worry more for her. We just have to trust that other people are competent and have enough empathy to treat them properly....she was early and I also understand the fear and guilt of having baby outside the safety of your womb. Just remember that you didn't do anything to cause this and you did everything you could for her. She'll be fine I'm sure, it's just hard being a mother and feeling so much for your baby.

Bless you! I wish you and your baby well. It's a hard thing to do but try and look at it from a positive place, picking it up so early means they will have exactly what she needs ready for when she is born and you will have all had 17+ to prepare. She may very well surprise you and it not be anywhere near as bad as you've been worrying. Good luck and best wishes.
