old wife's tales

Had my first ultrasound and the placenta was on the left side. They say this is a boy. So does the Chinese calendar.  Has this been true for anyone else?

Let me just state also that this is determined as left side and right while looking at an ultrasound photo.

I'm not sure about what the "wives' tale" says about placenta placement,  but I did study Ramzi's Theory while I was in medical school.  According to his theory,  in 97% of cases, if the placenta is on the left side of the uterus it is a boy during the first trimester of pregnancy and vice versa for girls. I went a step further and dug up all of my old ultrasound photos from my 3 prior pregnancies and sure enough,  the placenta was on the left...all lol 3 were boys. This time,  it is on the right,  so (fingers crossed) it just might be a girl

The gender prediction with the placenta placement is called Ramzi theory. Its actually really cool to read about online . But I don't think nothing is 100% right til the baby is born and shows you . Good luck and congrats.

I've never heard gender predicted by placenta placement. I think that depends on which side the egg came from. I don't know about that gender chart for complete accuracy but it's been right for all 3 of mine.
