Is it a bad thing to have a c-section with your first baby?

I had one with my first ar 39 weeks. My baby was over 9.5 and wouldn't pass through birth canal. It wasn't as bad as people told me but I would have rather been able to move around and experience natural way. I'm having baby 2 now..32 weeks and no complications. Doc says I have to have repeat c section so we will see. Go for natural way unless it's medically necessary. That is my opinion..

Natural is best for both of you. C sections can and do save lives. If you need one for a medical emergency then they are wonderful. It is a major abdominal surgery that you have to recover from while also caring for a newborn baby. I would highly recommend that you do everything in your power to have a natural or at least vaginal birth. C sections carry risk for later pregnancies as well and you are more likely to experience complications with later pregnancies. Lots of women have c sections in this country. The national average is around 30%. Most medical organizations agree that is too high and would like to see that number around 11% or less. Research on your own and do not be afraid to ask questions to your doctor or challenge their authority if what you are hearing does not sound quite right. Remember, the doctor is your employee, you can fire them at any time and get a new one that is more in line with your thinking.
