I just took mine out and let them heal. Breastfeeding is difficult enough without dealing with unnecessary piercings to boot.

I had my nipples pierced for a year and a half. You absolutely CAN breastfeed while having them pierced. You just have to take them out every time, and clean them after nursing every time. I chose to take mine out at 20 weeks because I don't want to deal with the hassle of taking them out and putting them back in 10 times a day.

Honestly your getting a lot of comments from people who have no idea what they are talking about(not all but a lot)

I work at a tattoo/piercing shop(we do both there) this is a frequent question from pregnant women when they come in(obviously since they can't get anything else done)
If you keep yourself and the jewelry clean This Is Safe, yes you can get build up of soap and dead skin cells within the hole..this is with EVERY piercing even ears thus why you Clean it.
Putting the rings back in may cause your nipples to leak more however as there is a consistent object with enough pressure to allow for the milk to drain.
However, if at Any time your worried or concerned go to a shop, ask the piercer. I promise you they have seen way worse then what you would be asking/showing them

Eww... This sounds completely unsanitary for a baby. Regardless of how healed it is, milk is going to get clogged in there and its not like you can really clean the inside of your nipple piercing.

How long have u had them pierced?
I had one nipple piercing for 2/3 years, by the time I had my daughter.  I breast fed her for a few months., and was able to put it back in after I was finished lactating.  With no problem.
I still have it and had the other 1 done for about 2 years now. I took the new out at 5.1/2 months PREGNANT WITH THIS new pregnancy.  Milk is leaking trough the hole so I don't think it's closed.so u might not need to put the ring in until ur done with breast feeding. Putting them in will probably make u leak alot plus your nipples will b super tender.

You just need to clean the jewelry before you put it back in EVERYTIME. It is safe to keep them in while breastfeeding as long as you take extra good care of them

Im sorry but even once the hole is healed and and you have had the piercing for many years, they get a build of crap in them all the time, iv had my lip pierced for about 4 years and constantly having to clean it out etc, I wouldnt think it would be clean enough for a baby to be feeding on

This is perfectly safe. Provided the piercing is already healed. It however may irritate your nipple. Depending on how long you plan on nursing I would suggest only putting them in at night or when your baby takes its longest nap.

I don't think its gonna b safe because the nipples will be very tender n can sore when the baby is feeding on them n its gonna be painful. When d baby is sucking on them

My former sister-in-law had hers done too. I don't know when is best to put then back in. You probably won't want to until you've decided to ween and your breasts have stopped producing milk. I will say that on one occasion she squeezed her breast to see what would happen and instead of going straight out the milk went in several directions. Haha. It was funny to see but I'm not sure it actually affected her nursing. Check with your doctor.
