So I was planning to breastfeeding . I just had my baby on the 26 at 11 am. She was 36weeks and 5days. Well now she has jaundice and have to stay in that in blue light for 24 hrs n only have 30 min to feed her and put her back. We don't have time to practice breastfeeding.  My milk hasn't come in yet but im stressing to much thatI ddon't even think ill get milk. If I formula feed what formula do i get I mean a newborn formula or a regular one how would I warm it up in a microwave uhh im just so stressed.  And baby is having trouble eating . I just want to scream and cry because I can't be the best for my baby ; ( ; (

I went through the same thing with my son. There is something in formula that is not in breast milk that the bilirubin will cling to and helps get rid of jaundice. Newborn formula is fine. I exult be very careful though how you administer though. Bottle feeding can cause nipple confusion so we used a medicine dropper to give the formula. Took forever but was worth it. Good luck

Im a first time mom and my baby is still not here.. Not all I can tell you is relax and try not to stress.. Talk to the nurses ask them what would they recommend if they don't know you can call WIC and tell the what's going. On and the will recommend something to work out for you and your baby.. I really hope this helps and I'm really sorry your stressing if you still want to breast feed when you get your baby home look up natural ways to get your milk flowing agin.. Some people have told non- alcoholic beer, oatmeal, alfalfa, and green juice

Also she doesn't need milk if you have colostrum it has high amounts of calories that's all baby should need.

I understand the need of formula but I wish hospitals would let nature take place.

The more your infant cries the faster your milk will come in.

My daughter was born at 35+5. Her jaundice level was 23. I just moved her incubator bed and sat under the light with her in a diaper and I held her the entire time. I continually gave her the breast and my doctor never said a thing. She was always under the light. Just keep on sunglasses.

My sister had a baby two months early. She used a pump to help her milk come in. She also used a tincture called Milk Rich by Wish Garden and swears by it. You might also see if the hospital gets breast milk donated if you really want to stick with breast milk until yours comes in.
