possible new job while pregnant

I stopped working a few months before I got pregnant. I'm glad I wasn't working during my first trimester with how sick I was. My boyfriend doesn't think I need to work and doesn't want me to get a job but he's also not giving me much money to work with to start getting my baby things. I have a third interview tomorrow for a retail position and I'll likely be on my feet all day if I get the job. My question is how many of you work/worked through your pregnancy and what was the level of difficulty. When will/did you put in for your leave. And do you have any advice for me about working a job on the feet all day.

I am a hair stylist and on my feet 10 or so hours a day. I am 14 weeks with my second child. I worked until I went into labor with.my daughter and plan to do the same with this one. Wear comfortable shoes and take breaks when you can. Most jobs understand amd will work around your needs. I work in jcp salon amd they let me park close to the store instead of parking at bottom of parking lot, wear tennis shoes and take frequent pee breaks etc.

There is nothing wrong with working during pregnancy. I'd probably go crazy staying home I think. I'm a manager at McDonalds do I work 9-10hr days 5 days a week. My feet hurt when I come home but otherwise not too bad. I'm 27 weeks and am working up until my due date unless something happens.

I am a restaurant manager and I am on my feet 10 hours and day. I have some issues such as back pain and feet swelling but that's common. Just break whenever you can. I am 38+1 & still working.  I didn't want to sit at home and wait on baby to come so I will be working these last 6 days until I am 39 weeks and then I will be done but it's absolutely nothing wrong with working while pregnant. Just listen to your body.

I'm 29 weeks now, was working at a restaurant in the kitchen, mostly drive thru the last month because I was nervous about rushing around near everyone and getting bumped. But I worked 6 days a week, until last week when me and my boyfriend had sex and I got contractions, and ended up dialating. now I'm on bed rest until she's born and don't have a choice. But as I said, sex did it not work so you should be fine!

I was a store manager at Charlotte Russe, retail is very demanding expessically with visuals and merchandising.  I had to quit because dressing 27 mannies a twice a week was killing my body. So just make sure that you don't stress yourself out.  Or work just part time.

I am 18weeks and 4days. I normally feel a little movement, the past two days I haven't. This will be baby #2, I'm not sure if I should be worried or not.

My last job I was on my feet my entire shift so I am use to what it's like just not while pregnant. I don't think it will be more than part time so hopefully it won't be too bad. I told my interviewer on the first interview that I'm expecting and come may I might be less available and they're still proceeding with my hiring process and didn't express concern. If it gets to the point that I'm in pain I'll leave the job. But that little extra money would be nice.

I'm 24wks and have a job where I'm a out half on my feet and half sitting for my 8-9hr shifts. I just stopped doing hairdressing and just work as the receptionist and help out assisting now so it isn't so hard on your body. Even sitting for half my shift I'm exhausted and sore when I get home. I agree with everyone else, if you aren't used to it, it will be very hard on your body. If you take the job, I would be very upfront with your employer and let them know you are pregnant and may require additional breaks or a few mins hear and there to sit and rest. It is illegal in most places not to hire someone b.c of pregnancy as long as you are still capable of doing the job. Also, make sure they understand and are ok with you maybe not being able to lift as many or as heavy of boxes of your retail product. If they are ok understanding than it shouldn't be a problem.

I agree, if your already not used to being on your feet all day it will be hell. I worked at JC penny when I was 16 & after 8 hrs of being on my feet my back and feet hurt so bad. You get used to it but with being pregnant it will only get harder.Definitely wear very comfortable and supportive shoes. Take more breaks with your feet up. You may even want a heating bad for your back since you are further along.

First, I'm still working and since I'm in a severe classroom as a teacher when we do Christmas break on Friday, i won't return. I'm 35 weeks. Second for baby items, i became an extreme coupon person lol. I stopped up on so many items for cheap that we wouldn't need to run shop for at last 6 months after our son comes. This includes necessity items. I have lower cramps but use a support belt to assist.

No pregnant mother should be on her feet all day. If you aren't use to it, it will get difficult quickly. I'd work for as long as you feel physically comfortable, make some extra money and just take it easy. Stop when you feel it's right. There are mommy groups on Facebook that you can find everything you need at a fraction of the cost, so don't get everything new and have your shower sooner so you can prepare and get other things you need. At the end it might be hard to do anything.

28 weeks here. Plan to work until I go into labor unless something happens. I am on my feet all day on concrete floors. They do let me have a chair, though, that I sit in sometimes, but its not always convenient or possible depending on what I am doing. If you have to stay standing, at least sit and put your feet up on breaks and lunch, and wear extremely supportive shoes. The only shoes I can wear without foot pain now are danskos, they are miracle shoes. Epson salt warm water foot soaks at night help. Foot massages are amazing. Just try to take it easy as much as you can. Good luck!
