breastfeeding question

Due to painful engorgement and swelling  I have decided to start pumping milk For bottle feeding. Before I was doing formula. My question Is does anyone have any recommendations Or know What a proper diet For breast feeding Is? I want to make sure the milk I'm giving my baby doesn't cause gas, constipation Or tummy problems and Is as healthy as possible For her. Thanks in advance!!

Thanks!! That helps a ton! I have lots of oatmeal in my house But It's my oldest daughter and dad That eats It. Ill start eating It too. Lol. I eat alot of fruit and veggies and meat. I love steak too lol. But I've been drinking alot of milk and water i try to stay away from soda as much as possible. My only issue is that im addicted to chocolate, cake, ice cream, cookies... i have a massive chocolate covered sweet tooth and i cant just tell myself dont eat sweets or junk food. But since ive been pumping for her ive cut back alot

Thats cause Pepsi is the devil lol its ny one weakness too. I only have one at lunch while at work (or if we go out to eat) but I always feel guilty. I dont drink coffee or eat candy so its really not all that bad.

As far as eating:
-try to make a least half your grains whole grains
-eat from every food group every day
-half your plate should be fruits & veggies (most americans have a huge blob of meat then tiny sides of other food groups, I'm guilty of this sometimes too... because steak is delicious. Really you dont need more than about 6oz of protein per meal i think, dont quote me on that number)
-try to choose snack that have 2-3 food groups in them (ex: a whole wheat english muffin, fresh strawberries & a glass of milk... something along those lines)
Those were just some tips we were given in a 'healthy family cooking' class. Eating oatmeal while breastfeeding is supposed to be good for production also I've heard. Hope that helps =)

Its good to continue taking prenatal vitamins when breastfeeding (or pumping) as well as just making sure you are getting some extra calories and not drinking too much soda or coffee - a little is fine!

Have a balance diet, drink a lot of water and avoid spicy foods. To avoid gas make sure that you are eating well. Dont pump when u are hungry, eat something first. Breastmilk does not cause constipation. And dont forget to burp your baby.

Just continue healthy eating like during pregnancy. I avoid spicy food. My friend was making vegan burgers by using mostly beans and her breastfed daughter could not handle all that fiber. Be sure to get enough calories and continue to drink water.
