Yes ask for paperwork as to why they fired you and if they refuse call the better business bearu(spellcheck) they cannot refuse to give you an answer. And make sure you do all of this through email or some type of writing becauae they will argue that you never contacted them.

That's good.  I think companies bank on people taking no action.  The more that do, the less likely they are to do this to people.  good luck with your lawsuit

I do think by law they have to give you termination papers.  I'd call the place you worked first and if they decline or take too long, call the general human resources number at corporate.

See what they've written down.  If it is wrong, dispute it.

I'd also ask for their policies on termination in writing---  not just pertaining to you but in general.  then see if what they wrote about you matches their general policies.

That's what I'd do anyway.  good luck

Yes I have it online and in the store. And if I ask for termination papers and they don't give it to me then what? It just seems like thats something they should have given to me to begin with

Well, they can't fire you for being pregnant---  absolutely not.  They will fire if you were sick with nausea or something and didn't properly use a sick day.  Until you are actually on leave, you aren't really protected as much.  You have a right to be sick and call in and use up your sick time.  However, they have the right to limit general sick days.  Until you go on short term disability or family medical leave or maternity leave, the regular rules apply like sickness.  Does that make sense?

Companies are tricky.  We all can be late once in a while for whatever reason but then they turn around and use it against us if they want us gone.  Then they can claim it wasn't due to pregnancy but due to the being late.  And courts have to go by the law.

So, when a company is playing this game, it is a good idea to make them give you the documentation they have to have to fire you to look and see what they wrote.  then if you can dispute it, do so!!

It does stink because companies can hide behind things such as being tardy once or twice when they do really want someone gone who is pregnant.  It's just hard to prove.

Ask for your termination paperwork, they have to give you a copy. If they ask you to sign anything don't sign it. Do you have an HR portol online or and HR department at your store?

Not only that I live in jersey the laws passed, the fmla law, you may be familiar with it. States that I may leave work for medical situations, maternity leave , prenatal care and even morning sickness in my situation thats just like my water breaking on the job are they going to fire because of that to?

I would ask them to put into writing why they've fired you.  This sends a signal that you are not messing around.  To fire an employee these days they need documentation---  so they must produce adequate documentation.  So, ask for it and see what they give you.  (you'd need that for an attorney anyway).

They didn't put anything in writing. I never even received a write up or suspension. They're so-called reasoning is that I left work early one time and I came in to work late one time but they were issues due to my pregnancy I never even missed a day of work.

The way they worded your termination papers is very important, I would ask for a copy and go to corporate about it. Were you last hired, called in sick a lot, took frequent restroom breaks?

Hm, usually large companies are very careful about these things.  What were their grounds for firing you?  What did they say or put into writing?
