How soon do you put your car seat in the car? When is the best time to pack the bag for the hospital, and What are the best things to take?
You can put the carseat in whenever you want however if your car is in an accident and the carseat is installed you will need to replace it even if it doesn't look damaged...I do recommend carefully reading your carseat manual and car manual to make sure you are installing it correctly...also once you have taken a wack at installation go to www.seatcheck.org and find an inspection location to make sure it is correct
I have an appointment with a CPST (Child Passenger Safety Technician) during my 36th week to install baby's carseat. Nearly 90% of infants and young children are incorrectly harnessed. Even if I'm sure I've read the instructions thoroughly, even if I'm positive I'm doing it right, I want it to be done by someone who's been trained and certified to do it properly. I want them to teach me how.
I'm not going to count on someone at the hospital knowing what to look for. Not all nurses are trained for that, and there's not even a guarantee that a nurse will be the one to escort you to your vehicle (they're usually pretty busy). I know that at hospitals in my area new mothers and their families are often walked out by CNAs or even just "care attendants" who are barely trained to do more than push wheelchairs and smile. I'd rather have a professional teach me instead of someone who hasn't even looked at the owner's manual and figures "that looks good".

I made sure my fiance had it installed at around 37 weeks just for peace of mind if I went into labor. I kept imagining having to wait for him to install it before we went to the hospital because you can't leave without one. As for the hospital bag, I'm 40+ weeks and decided not to pack a hospital bag til its time because I can't pack most things like tooth brush, hair brush, phone charger, etc. Til the day of anyway

Ask your hospital because the hospital makes you bring in the car seat so they can check it so there isn't a point to install it. And I'm 36 weeks and my doctor told me to have my bag packed
About the car seat , People tell me that they don't let you leave the hospital without one .... Maybe around 33-35 to 36 weeks to set up the car sear
