Also this site was recommended to be by the breastfeeding clinic. They have resources on handling and storing breastmilk, including pumping.  ************

I breastfed my son until he was one.  The first milk your body produces is important for the baby.  The other ladies are right that if you haven't been breastfeeding another child it may not be a good idea to start pumping so early.  I was concerned I wouldn't make enough milk for my son, I even had formula on hand just in case. If you are concerned or do have difficulties talk to a local breastfeeding clinic.  My hospital offered one and the nurses were really helpful when my son wasn't latching or my confidence was down.  Good luck!

It okay if you have been breastfeeding the whole time. Thats why doctors say your man needs to stay away from the breast bc nipple simulation is a trigger for labor. Bc breast feed closes everything up down there. I would consult with your doctor about this.

You are going to cause your self so many issues pumping while pregnant. You can start premature labor. You can mess up your milk supply. Your body doesn't produce the hormones to let your milk down until two or three days after baby is born. Those first days of nursing are to teach you and baby how to adjust and learn together. There is absolutely no reason to pump now.

Also, I dont think anyones trying to be rude to you. Its more of an urgency, probably, to let you know that you really shouldn't pump while pregnant.

Ya i wouldnt pump until baby is here. Your sending your body signals that the baby is here. 26 weeks is really early to be doing that. I agree you should talk to your DR first but I really think they will tell you not to pump.

Oh my. You are not supposed to pump while pregnant. You could cause preterm labor. Talk to your dr.

Be careful with the pumping early just for contractions. But at my breast feeding class they said that the first couple times u pump you may not get a lot. .. I tried yesterday but nipples were already sore so will try later again.

I don't know if you are aware but pumping while pregnant can lead to pre term Labour,  when ypu pump it releases oxytocin which is your bodies natural form of potocin.

Wow I didn't even know this was possible. Good to know as I've been really worried that I might not have any milk. I know it's not genetic but it still worries me. I heard that a certain type of liquid/milk comes out for the first feed. Does this still happen?

Yes. However, there's a certain way to do it.
1) Put tonight's milk in fridge. Not freezer.
2) Pump in the morning (in separate bag), then chill to the same temperature as the previous bag.
3) When both are the same temperature, combine the bags and put them in the freezer.
Good for you starting early! Just be careful. Nipple stimulation can cause very painful contractions.
