Do you have contractions before your water breaks? Or does it come out of nowhere

Mine didn't break until labor. I was on the bed and had the feeling like I had to pee told the nurse so she said hold on, she would help me go to the bathroom in a second but then my water broke all over the bed so I said 'um nevermind, guess it wasn't pee after all' lol. Everyone is different tho so it would be impossible to guess

My water broke at 8am and I didn't have contractions until 8pm and I was in active hard labor around 3am the next morning and had baby at 1030am. This was all natural no pitocin, no epidural.

I did but it was back labor. My stomach contracting didn't start to become very noticeable until after my water broke. But I do have a very high pain tolerance.
