I have been smoking for over 15 years. I owed through my previous pregnancies because my Dr told me not to quit just cut back. My second son was born 4 weeks ear m . Thank god he was healthy. For this pregnancy I am quitting. I haven't had a cigarette in 11 days. I am using the patch. My Dr said to use it. I am also going through the health department. They offer free classes. 13 week program. It's not very hard with the patch. I highly recommend it. Talk to your Dr and check with your health department to see b if they offer will it smoking classes.

I guess just think of what it does to the baby. Everytime you inhale it stops your baby's heart. They also have an increased risk for asthma and low birth weight. Let me tell you, you do not want a baby with asthma.

I was told not to quit cold turkey by my doctor as it puts a lot of stress on the baby, and your own body. What helped me was staying busy, and not giving myself the time to think about it. I also gave the cigarettes to my bf to hold so that I couldn't smoke whenever i wanted and that helped me so much. It's easier to stay on track when someone else can say no, and you can't do anything about it lol plus with a baby on the way, there's plenty to do to keep yourself busy along the way. Good luck momma, and congrats!

I didnt quit right away when i found out i was pregant. I just minimized my cig intake thinking that will do anything. I remember a week after finding out i was pregant i went to the library and saw this book titled smoking while pregnant...i read the first paragraph and closed the book got in my car and threw out the pack of cigs and that was it for me..i have been smoke free for a month now and i dont miss it at all!! Cigs harm your unborn baby in so many ways..it recieves less oxygen, it can be born with birth defect, low birth weight, and you can even miscarry..there was a huge list of the negative effect of smoking..please do research and hopefully that will help you quit. I was a heavy smoker..almost a pack a day and i did it..i know you can too..

With my first pregnancy i would gag and get nauseous and vomit every time i would try to smoke,  then i took a test and it was positive. I quit easy and cold turkey cause it made me sick, so that helped.
Then of course I started up again 2 years after that... and well, i been smoking for about 9 yrs now, so it really hard for me to quit...
I'm 18wks pregnant,  and I'm trying my hardest, but it's just not working...
i tend to sleep in so I don't smoke as much...i tend to eat or snack a lot so I don't smoke as much. And to make things worse,  my husband smokes too. So every time he lights up, i end up caving in. Like I won't smoke all day then he will come home and I can smell the smoke coming in from the window. Ugh... it's hard...but i keep trying.

My cousin had her baby two months early because she was smoking her whole pregnancy and told everyone she stopped. Still no one knows she was smoking except for me and I'm not going to tell anyone but everyone is worried and wondering why the baby came so early. He's healthy just very tiny.

Luckily when I got pregnant the first sign that I knew I was pregnant was smoking actually made me sick. A close friend of mine was the opposite and what worked best for her was the e-cig. Drop down to almost no nicotine in them and finally just the flavor. It makes it seem like you are still smoking without the dangerous effects for the baby. You can find them fairly cheap anymore...at least here in Florida you can. Look around ask the people at a e-cig place for help. Good luck and great job on trying to quit with the baby!
