In uk you can go on maternity leave 11 weeks before your EDD. If you want to save a few weeks maybes take some sick leave or hols and then go on maternity. Good luck hun not long now for you. Enjoy. Redcar UK xc
I have a very understanding doctor who offered to put me on sick leave at 23 weeks due to my first being born at 24 weeks.
The reason was stress to the body I am a community carer so know how hard it can be.
You might have to give the midwife/ maternity gov a call because it does say you have to give 28days notice of when you intend to start mat leave.
I'm sure this can be changed and I'm sure your midwife will be able to help or at least give you the details.
Your not the first or last women who would like to start earlier then you have previously said
yeh im 19wks n already been admittrd into hospital on bed rest as wen I work I bleed n stuff bt I hv crohns disease too. if ya feelin unwell speak to ur manager they hvto b understanding wen ur pregnant as I work in care too n they hv to risk assess ya so mayb at ur next 1 sud explain hw ya feelin x
You can start your mat leave any time from 11 weeks before EDD. As mentioned above sick leave is an option but bear in mind if you are off work for pregnancy related illness in the four weeks before EDD, your mat leave and pay will startautomatically. This is regardless of what has been agreed previously. Alternatively take annual leave (especially important if you can't carry them over)
Our Dr's bang heads over whether bed rest is beneficial so it depends who you get but generally I've read there needs to be reasons such as preterm labour, placental praevia/accreta or other placenta issues. There are other conditions where pelvic rest may help and be advised but like I said it's contested here in the UK and depends on the doctor who will likely weigh up risks on an individual basis only. Hope this helps :)
What reasons do they need for bed rest?
yeh or she will b able to put u on sick leave till it starts, which wudnt b to bad as nhs paid full sick pay when I worked there x
