I just had a uti and I can't remember what I was prescribed but it was after I had went to the er for some bleeding and cramping so I don't see normal ob, the Dr was just in her residency and seemed fairly new to everything going on so I was skeptical about the antibiotics she prescribed me, so before taking them I did google search on them and checked out a few different sites just to be sure they were safe. Even Dr.s are capable of making mistakes so it's ok to do a lil research on ur own if ur worried.

Your doctor wouldn't recommend something they thought would cause harm. Untreated utis during pregnancy can lead to kidney infection, fever, and stillbirth/miscarriage. It's important to follow doctors orders.

It's common to get uti within the first trimester. I had one at 8 weeks, I'm not sure what antibiotics they put me on but I'm 31weeks now and my baby boy is perfectly healthy. Dr's won't put you on any medication that will harm your baby unless it would be more harmful for you not to take it. I have epilepsy as well and they took me off of the medication I was on and put me on something safer for the baby. Most antibiotics for stuff like uti and stuff isn't harmful for your baby. It's the other medications you should be wary of.
