37 and trying to conceive for first time

Hello ladies,

I'm 37 trying to conceive for the first time, fiancee is 29 and we have been using the app only to track ovulation and record when we have sex. I'm really regular and have been off the Nuvaring since January (2 cycles). Have been having sex every other day during post period to ovulation and every 2-3 days leading up to my period. Any other tips or tricks? We are having a lot of fun, I'm not stressing out but have heard TTC at my age could take a while.  Thanks!

I'm 12 weeks with my first and it happened right before I turned 38 after 2 years of trying. I used an app too, along with ovulation kits, basal temp, mucus, you name it. After a little over a year, we went to a specialist and got everything checked out. Absolulely everything was normal - ovulation, sperm, my ovarian reserve (excellent), our health, my tubes, all of it. Totally unexplained infertility.

Over 8 months we did 6 IUI procedures (a lot less complicated than IVF but still using hormone shots) and got pregnant on the last one. My doc had recommended a specific probiotic which I'm still taking, I have no idea what role that played but it seemed like a good idea. I also tried to relax and work out, we took December off to enjoy the holiday so maybe that helped too.

I guess what I would recommend is talking to your doctor asap just to see when you can start basic tests to rule out specific problems. Even without problems, things just take longer to happen so it's a good idea to be proactive in case there are problems you can have addressed. Good luck to you!

I got pregnant for the first time at 37. I used the P Tracker app to track my periods for 10 months prior to when I actually conceived. We did have sex on 2 of the "fertile" days in a row during 1 cycle and that's when I got pregnant. We had been trying a few cycles before but I don't think it was on the right fertile days or maybe the app didn't have enough data yet. It could have just as easily been luck of the draw but I can't help feeling like the app helped. Good luck!

Dont follow the chart you dont ovulate the same each month...preseed from cvs or Walgreens is a good boost to help the semen flow to the right spot...research it....i also suggest get your hormone levels check to make sure you are still ovulating and all that good stuff...

I've heard it can take up to 6 months for your body to readjust if you've been on birth control for over 10 years. That being said that doesn't mean it will take that long for you. I recommend trying not to stress. I'm 39 and my husband and I tried for several months and I would get so disappointed every month. Then finally I just "let it go" and it happened! I think stress can play into it a lot. Trust that it will happen at the right time and watch it happen!

Hopefully this makes sense... at my last pap appointment my doctor asked me if I wanted more kids Idond yes and told her I tried a few months without success. I too was using an app. More so to track my periods. She told me ur body doesn't ovulate the same each cycle.. so u know it says 8 days ur not fertile than 8 days u are and 8 days before ur period u r again? Well that's not nesaserly true.. she said read ur body and seee the signs. What!?!?! Well by this she means and sorry tmi sometimes on ur undies you'll notice discharge right. Well when its watery like the egg white thats ur most fertile day when its semi watery/thick u are still fertile but when its thick and and Sticky than ur not fertile. So this can be at any time after ur period. Most important try to leave the app behind for one month and try this. U get unconsciously Stressed with writing ur love life down that it becomes 'homework' rather than a special time. So ddon't strees ur mind and enjoy. Just read ur body :) and keep us updated if u get pregnant:)

I'm 37 with my first.  I used an ovulation kit. If you're regular it'll work great for you. It tells you the two day window. Of course you can still have sex every other day leading up to it, but I made sure we had sex when we were fertile. Good luck

I'm 37 and 31 weeks. I was on birth control for 16 years before I got pregnant. My advice is give your body time to readjust from the birth control and stop trying. Trying make it seem like it take forever. Just have fun and enjoy being with your fiancee.
