used steroid cream on base of penis / trying to conceive

I used mometasone furoate (a topical steroid cream) last night (for the first and ONLY time) on the base of my penis due to a minor skin allergy. Additionally, my wife and I are currently trying to conceive. When my dermatologist gave me the prescription for the mometasone furoate she knew I was trying to conceive and said it was OK to use.

After applying it, I read that Mometasone furoate is teratogenic so I thoroughly washed/lathered with soap the area in the shower before bed (took two showers to be thorough and lathered it up/rinsed twice each time). Does thoroughly washing with soap and water in the shower remove all traces of mometasone furoate? I guess I am a little concerned that some transfered to my wife as we tried to conceive last night (after the two showers to get it off) and wanted to get a second opinion. I just don't understand why my dermatologist would have prescribed this to me even after I told her my wife and I are trying to conceive.

That said, I think I will not use the cream again.

Specifically, the thing that I am MOST concerned about is: What if last night's session did get my wife pregnant and I didn't get every last bit of the medication off my junk? Do you think that I made a major mistake? I'm pretty concerned right now...

You will all will be fine...relax there are so many more major things that you and your wife are exposed to on a daily basis that are 1000x more damaging to your health than mometasone furoate cream. Hell there is worse chemicals in your food than what's in the cream.

The best way to get an answer is to call a pharmacy and speak only to the pharmacist. Try the pharmacy you picked it up from. They might ask that you meet with them so they can counselt in person. This is the quickest way to get knowledgable information about the reacts of this tropical cream. The best part is that it's free.
