The doctors tried magnessium and other medicine to stop my labor, but nothing worked. I'm sure if something did work, they would have kept me in the hospital and monitored me like a hawk to keep those babies in as long as possible!

I am 27w and have been at 1cm since 22w, I was told its common in women with previous children. Have you had a round to mature the lungs?? Even if the weight is "good" it does not mean they are ready for life outside the womb, its ideal between 36-38 to prevent the risk of CP, and MANY othe complications that COULD arise. It doesnt matter if your last child did great or not, every pregnancy is diffrent. Many women who go at prior to 34 have no choice and many have had issues and would gladly have chosen to had them stay in longer, its sort of selfish to want them so early by choice. They will stille be premie babies with an elevated risk to sids, its not wise to rush unless there are no options.

I ended up having my twins at 32wk 4d. I actually went to the OBGYN the day before for a regular visit & everything checked out fine. The were measuring big as well (both were estimated at almost 6 lbs). I had a scheduled c-section for January 31, but Christmas Eve I woke up in labor and was almost 4 cm dilated by the time I got to the hospital! Tried everything they could to stop it, but I kept dilating & ended up having a csection. They were born at 4lbs 5oz & 4lbs 11oz. It's definitely uncomfy towards the end. I know I could barely sit down or do anything without being in pain. Definitely an experience!

I'm 32 weeks pregnant  with identical girls and 1centimeter dilated and if I was you I would not be trying to rush.  I want my girls healthy and coming home with me.   Even through my pregnancy id high risk they are fine they weigh four pounds each think how small that is.  Good luck

I had my twins a day short of 38wks after being on bed rest  when I was in hospital for 8 days, that was since I was 26 wks. I was 1.5cm dilated since then. Got all sorts of med, and steriod. We saw the NICU, were impressed with the care provided there but it is scary when you think about what complication might arise with a premature del. You should really rest, drink lots of water, eat well and wait for the big day to arrive. One thing that I always pictured in my mind was the moment I would hold my baby, and it kept me going.  Good luck.

When I was pregnant with just my daughter, I was about 1 cm dialated for 2-3 weeks before she was born in the 38th week.

I agree with the other posters, you should take it easy to give them a little more time in there.  My kids were born at 32 weeks and spend 1 month in the NICU, and many more months 'catching up' to their developmental age.  It's wonderful that you've made it this far and at just 1 cm dilated...you could very well make it to your c-section date.  You must be getting excited!  Good luck!

I was 1-1.5cm dilated at 28 weeks and was put on strict bed rest at that point along with the steroid shots for lung development.  I had a c section at 36 weeks.  Don't try to speed things along....you need to keep those babies in there a while longer.  Try to stay on your left side and take it very easy for the next few weeks.  Drink lots of water, also.

I would definitely not do anything right now to speed up the contractions. I had my twins just a few days shy of 32 weeks and they had all kind of problems when they were born. It is way too early. 35-36 weeks makes a world of difference. i know you are probably do ready for them to be here, because I was the same way, but I would do anything you could to keep them in there a little while longer.

They say having sex helps your labor progress.  Being 1 cm dilated you could actually still be a few weeks away from delivery.  It's hard to say, b/c everyone is different.

I would try to keep those little buns cooking a little longer if I were you.  I'm sure you're feeling pretty miserable by now, and anxious to see your little darlings.  But it will really be easier on them if their lungs and stuff develop a few more weeks.

Hang in there, and try to enjoy some rest if you can, Lord knows there wont be much rested after they get here.  =)
