7 weeks pregnant with twins =)

Hi. I'm new to your community & I'm so excited to be a part of it =)  Here's my story in a nutshell...  dh & I have been ttc for 3 1/2 years.  I'm 37, he's 39.  Through my HSG exam, we learned I have a T-shaped uterus, which minimized our options because my RE said it's too risky to carry multiples with a T-shape.  So, after trying unsuccessfully on our own, we finally gave in & went through our first IVF cycle, transferring a single embryo.  We were told there was a "slight" chance it could split, but that chance was even less by doing a 5-day transfer, which we did.  Well, after everything we did to avoid multiples, our little one did split & we are currently almost 8 weeks pregnant with identicial twins!  I am shocked, amazed & feel truly blessed.  It obviously was meant to be =) Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I got next week for my u/s with the actual u/s tech (all others have been by my doc and while she can see heartbeats and babies... she's not too good with the machine. lol). I will be about 14wks when I go and i'm going to try to talk to u/s tech into telling me... if not i'm sure i'll get one 4wks from then or so and then i'll know. Hopefully it's next Tuesday because i'm anxious to know. I'm just nervous to buy anything until closer to my due date though.

jakesgal:  Yep, definitely identical & in their own sacs ;)  My RE said, for me, that's the best situation, so that gives me some comfort ;)  Wow, with three boys at home, a little girl will be well protected! ;)  Do you know when you will find out for sure?  I hope you do have a little girl or two, but I know you'll be happy either way ;)

35MomofBoys:  Hey there!  I think you were preoccupied with your twins & your boys when I announced my BFP! =)  Thanks for the congrats!  How are your girls doing?

So definitely identical, but did they end up in their own sacs? My twins are in their own sacs but my doctor says she cannot tell me for sure at this point if they are definitely fraternal or if they are identical. I'm hoping fraternal because she said one looks like a boy (I have 3 at home already) and the other one was being shy. I'll be happy with two healthy babies but would love a girl. lol.

vanidavila:  Thanks! =)  Wow, 5!  I'm sure that was a shock.  I bet it was a difficult decision to reduce, but it sounds like you made the right decision for you :)  How is your pregnancy going so far with triplets?  Will these be your first babies?  Best wishes & thanks for the welcome & warm wishes :)

Hello and welcome! You will find this site very helpful and supportive. At the beginning of my pregnancy I was pregnant with 5, yes quintuplets!! We were given the option to reduce, which we did for the health of our babies. We ended up reducing to 3 so now we are expecting triplets!! I am 16 weeks right now and just hope I can get past 34 weeks! Good luck and hope you have a very happy and healthy pregnancy!!

Yes, we conceived our twins naturally.  Just thought it was time to start trying for number two, and were blessed with 2 and 3!  We have a daughter, so these will be our first boys!  I am happy for my daughter, because she gets to stay the only girl with the twins getting so much twin attention!

1st:  It sounds like you conceived your twins naturally?  It must be exciting to know you're having two boys ;)  I can't wait til we find out what we're having :)  We're still very early.  Congrats to you & thanks! =)

Tima:  Your daughters are just beautiful =)  Yes, we didn't believe ours would split either.  Imagine our surprise when we retrieved 21 eggs, fertilized 19 and only transferred one!?  We ended up freezing 11 & now we're thinking, what if we transferred more than one, like we wanted to!?  Haha =)  The funny thing is that my RE was so deadset against multiples, but now that I'm pregnant with twins, they're not considering me high risk.  Go figure!

meggs:  Thank you!  I appreciate it =)  I always imagined myself with twins, so when my RE went through all the precautions to avoid them, I have to admit I was bummed...  So, yes, it is such a blessing!  Congrats to you & your little boy and girl!!! =)

CONGRATS!  I think it was definitely meant to be if you went to all that trouble not to have multiples and then are blessed with twins!  How cool!  I too went through IVF and am 26 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins - a boy and a girl!  I just wanted to say congrats and welcome!  Hope all goes well for you!

Congratulations. I have 2 uterus and also was a high risk pg. had 2 frozen blasts transferd and both were born healthy a day short of 38wks. I thought blasts are not supposed to splits! so the thought of having more than twins was never in my mind. Anyways wish you the very best. take care.

Wow!  That is an amazing story!  Congratulations!  I don't really have any advice.  I am 29 weeks pregnant with twins.  We don't know if they're identical or fraternal, and won't know 'till they're born.  They are in separate sacks, and are both boys.  The doctor says we can't tell if they just split early, or were two eggs to begin with.  The u/s only saw one placenta, but says the second placenta could be behind the first one so that we can't see it.  So it will be fun to see whether they turn out to be identical or not!  Congratulations again!
