A "pair and a spare". :o)

I will be 8 wks on 8/26 and found out last week that we are having triplets....identical twins and a singleton.  Talk about the shock of a lifetime!  Anyway, I have been having pretty severe morning sickness (24/7) w/o vomiting, thank goodness, and have little bouts of abdominal aches and pains which I keep hearing are just reactions from the changes going on in my body.  My reason for posting is this: besides the obvious risks due to a mutliple pregnancy, I'm wondering what sort of things I can expect during my pregnancy.  This is my first so I don't have anything to compare this pregnancy to, other than reading my pregnancy book.  But having triplets kind of throws me into a category other than what I'm reading about and I was hoping I might get some good advice from those who are pregnant with or have had multiples.  We go back on 9/2 for another US.  The one last week showed great signs....the identicals are in their own amniotic sacs and measured a little over 7 & 8 mm.  The singleton was a little over 10 mm.  I'm still nervous about this pregnancy and all the risks, not to mention the bed rest, back pain, etc.  Just looking for some hints and a little reassurance.  Thanks!!  (By the way, the "pair and a spare" thing came from one of my mom's friends and we thought it was cute!)

Hi Everyone, Congrats to all that is preggy. I am too 8 weeks preggy with not one, not two but three. Was this a shock for me, I can't tell you, I am still feeling very anxious, nervious scared, worried, petrified, dont feel excited at all. Is this bad. Did IVF, two embryos, who would have thought the one would split. I dont know what to do. I know I should feel blessed but right now, I dont feel that way. Please help.

Thank you!  Honestly, I can't even imagine what the next several weeks will be like.  I'm so exhausted all the time.....I can't even to do the simplest of things.  I'm hoping to get a little more energy once my first trimester is over, but then I know I'll have to be careful and not overdo it....kind of a double edged sword.  I told my husband this morning that I'm almost looking forward to bed rest!  I know that I shouldn't joke because bed rest is not an easy thing, but if I could stay home and sleep all day now I would in a second!  :)

Your twins are gorgeous!!  Congratulations!!!  And I love your dachsie!  Enjoy your beautiful babies and take care!

Congrats to you!!!!  How exciting.  The best advice I can give is---Just take care of yourself and take it easy...  I was put on bed rest at 28 weeks with my twins due to dilating and other signs of pre-term labor.  BUT I had really been pushing myself for the previous two weeks.  While my Dr. assured me that had nothing to do with it, I cannot believe that it didn't.
Take care and keep us posted!!!

I haven't either ;)  And yes, it's crazy!  I can hardly believe I have one life growing inside of me, let alone two!  I can't imagine what's going on in your mind!  heehee =)  I know what you mean about all the obstacles you faced.  I was told in Oct that I have a t-shaped uterus, which means it's basically smaller & that multiples would be risky.  So, that's why my RE decided IVF would be our best bet, only transferring one embryo & what do you know!? It split!  I feel like it was just meant to be ;)  That's great we're just a week apart.  It'll be fun having someone so close!  Take care & thanks for the congrats =)

Wow!  I haven't talked to another person who's had identicals from IVF!  Isn't it crazy?!  :o)  I just sit and think about the odds we've faced from the beginning, all the statistics they gave us and the improbability of multiples.  It still blows my mind that we are having triplets.  I prayed and prayed for a miracle.....I got 3!  LOL!  Thank you for the congratulations and congratulations to you too!  You're a week ahead of me.....I'll be anxious to see your progress!  Take care!!

Wow, congratulations! =)  This is my first pregnancy too & we did IVF, only implanting one embryo & were surprised to find out that it split!  We're currently almost 9 weeks pregnant with twins =)  I like your headline!  That's cute =)

Thank you!!  No, I haven't gotten any materials on multiples yet....that is on my to-do list for sure.  We did an FET cycle with 2 embryos from last year's retrieval.  The first 2 didn't implant last summer so we were very surprised that these last 2 did (not to mention the shock that one split!).  This has been one heck of a roller coaster ride!  I have been having lower ab and side cramps off an on since the transfer but my biggest challenge has been the nausea.  However, I just got some Zofran and what a relief!  I didn't think I was ever going to feel "normal" again.  I'll look for that book you suggested....thanks for the information!!  It sounds like you have your hands full....I can't imagine going through this and having other small kids at home.  Take care of yourself and I wish you lots of luck too!

Well congrats on the triplets! Are they natural or were you going through IVF? Well, I'm kind of new to the multiples thing too, but there are a lot of people on here that can help you out! My biggest bit of advice would be to take it easy and don't overdo it at all. We were just grocery shopping one day and I had to sit down because I got really crampy. lol. Have you gotten a book called "What to Expect When Expecting Twins, Triplets, Quadruplets"? That book is a big help is talks about everything you'd want to know about multiple pregnancies and was written by mom's and doctors who have gone through it. Well, good luck with everything!
