HCG levels off the charts

Our beta HCG test was a very solid 538.  Totally obvious my wife was pregnant.  This was friday 5/14.  Monday 5/17 was the second HCG test.  It qadrupled to 2,224!  Any similar experiences for the first two tests?

We did IVF and three embryos were transfered at the advice of the doc due to my wife's age (36) and that a couple of them were fragmented.  I'm just wondered if this is at all rare to experience these kinds of numbers and if it actually is a good sign of multiples or on the other side of things, risky for complications in the fetus(es).  Thoughts?

Thanks, guys.

amandacole, she was 4 weeks at her beta test of 538, and the second was 2 days later.  Yeah, i'm trying not the read too much into the numbers.  Our first u/s isn't until June 1.  Forever from now it seems.  I'll be happy with however number we get. :)

i had twins and my levels were completely normal for a woman having one baby. numbers don't always mean multiples...or one baby. as long as they're going up.
