braxton hicks at 17 weeks, do you think they'll stop?!

So I just got back from my check up and have been ordered to put my feet up. I've been having contractions for about a week on and off and the past 2 days its happening every hour. My regular Dr. said go home and put my feet up and when I go see my OB next week he'll likely recommend stopping work. Just wondering if anyone had this at this stage and if you relaxed did they go away??  Babies heartbeats are strong and she didn't check my cervix or anything and there is no pain so she was mostly just wanting me to slow down and chill out and take the next 4 days off.

Do not take magnesium unless instructed to do so by YOUR physician.

I've never had multiples, but I heard that sometimes dehydration can cause BH.  That happened to my sister-in-law.  Are you drinking enough water???

Thanks guys for your input. This is my first pregnancy and I wasn't intitially sure what I was feeling when I described it to the Dr. It is doing all day at least once/twice and hour. I am hoping to work 3 days this week and then go on medical leave. My job doesn't allow me to put my feet up at all during the day so really hard to take breaks or rest. I am worrying about the cervix opening so hoping the Dr. checks that on friday for me. I've been waiting forever for my first OB appt!! My husband vacuumed the house for me yesterday, so being forced to relax has some benefits!!

BH are fine as long as they do not develop a regular pattern - ex. more than 4-5 in an hour would be worrisome and should be checked by a doctor.

Around 25 weeks I started getting them - sometimes every 7 minutes.  Luckily cervix was still closed and I was ordered to take 2 weeks off of work and relax and take magnesium.  After the 2 weeks luckily there was still no change in cervix and I was allowed to return to work....

my bh started around 20 weeks and by 24 weeks i was 2 cm dialated and 50% effaced. i lasted until 34 weeks. i was put on moderate bed rest at 20 weeks and full bedrest at 24 weeks. my ob told me from the get go to not work. my ob also did a pelvic exam and checked my cervix at each appointment.
