car seats/weight changes as babies grow

My twins are 17.5months old, weigh 21 lbs. So now I have to change their car seats. I was looking online and saw some really good ones. But I dont know how to guess how long my girls will use the seats. The seats that are good till the child is 40lbs-how old would an average child be? Also just wanted to get a sense of what kind of seats you are using/planning to use for your growind infants/toddlers? Space saver type of seats?

Looks like you have two little girls so reaching the 40lb mark may take a bit longer depending on if they are small. My boys reacht the 40lb mark at 4yrs old and that is the point when children are no longer required to use a child seat (for now). So I would say you can get a good two-three years use out of the seats.
