private question...

I am lucky that so far I don't have any varicose veins in my legs or anything.  I also don't have any bloating or water issues....

...but what I do notice is that on my belly and breast my veins are much more noticeable.  In my hands and feet, my veins are EVEN MORE noticeable and bulge out. (in a normal way though - just obvious I have more blood running through my veins.   On a side note, when I was 10, my mother was pregnant with my sister and I can remember her hand veins looking the same!)   All of this is I guess normal, and I remember it from my last pregnancy too.

Ok, so here is where the question gets personal..... Then the other day I was shaving down there - and as I know you all know, that is only possible with a mirror at this point!  And I realized that my veins down there also bulge out a bit at times!  Sometimes I also get swollen looking down there too - maybe from extra blood or pressure from babies?

Anyone else notice this? Is that normal?!?!?

PS I showed my husband and he says he can barely see them.  Even my midwife and dr said "you mean here?"  I wanted to say "of course i mean there!  dont you see!!??!?!"

Maybe they are all trying to be nice to me.  Or maybe I am nuts and my pregnancy hormones make it seem worse.  Or maybe my mirror magnifies!

Today I saw both my midwife and doctor and neither of them were concerned with my veins or the fact that I am swollen looking down there when I stand a lot.

My dr said the good news is that if it is occuring more when I stand, that means it is due to the pressure and weight of the pregnancy and most likely will go away when the weight and pregnancy are over.

But still.... I hate it! :(  I think I would have preferred varicose veins in my legs..... oh, maybe not.  I dont know which is worse.

I think this is a great question!!! And yes, totally totally normal.  I have the same thing, and at times it's more swollen down there than other times.  I remember TRYING to shave down there with a mirror for the very first time and I was horrified! What I had did not look like my vagina, I swear, it was swollen ginormous!!  I immediately got out of the bath grabbed my what to expect book and looked it up, sure enough it is to be expected so no worries and your not alone! One more thing, cudos to us for still even shaving down there while pregnant with multiples :-)

Hi Ladybug,

Ahhh.  Well i dont have the discharge problem yet, but I did have that with my DD.  At one point I thought I might be leaking fluid when I was in the 35th week because of all the discharge.

Right now my only changes "down there", is all the pressure, and the veins, which I do not think are varicose.  When I have pressure down there, then everything looks a bit swollen and the veins can be seen.  Othertimes, when I dont feel the pressure, everything looks relatively normal..... I have to ask my midwife about this when I see her on Saturday.  I assume it is normal, but good to ask.  Damn mirror!  LOL

Ladies:  It was in the July 2009 Babies forum - bc I started the post.  :-)  Mostly everyone was talking about the increase in discharge that we are all noticing at about the 30 week mark.  Mine isn't too bad, but has increased.
I have one vericose vein in my foot that my dr. has been checking on and I was kinda complaining that it hurt and he said that some women get them in the vulva, so I'm sure its normal that we have increased blood flow "down there" as well or some women wouldn't get vericose veins there.
I too have really noticable veins in my breasts, belly and feet.  My Dr. says it is normal - although it is kinda weird looking sometimes.

ooohhh - i just noticed that this is in the multiples forum.  I'm not having multiples - just wanted to chime in!  :-)

PS. I did see a post last week in another forum (forget which one) where someone was talking about shaving and someone else said to get waxed as it is easier....and then someone else said that with all the changes down there, they wouldn't want to get waxed by a stranger.  I thought to myself "changes down there?  I don't think I have changes down there....."

Maybe this is what they were talking about?  Maybe I have to find that post!

HAHA!  I had been shaving "blind" up until this point.  And then when we were on vacation, I shaved less I guess and since I cant see, it wasn't bothering me too much!.... That is until my 22 month old daughter pointed and said "dirty" when I was getting in the shower!  HA!     Then I figured, maybe it was good to go to the extra effort and get the mirror out to do a "proper" job!  HEHEHE

I haven't noticed but I do know that (TMI) hemorroids is very common in pregnancy.  (unfortunately!)  Thank God I haven't had them with this pregnancy yet though.

LOL to be honest, there's no telling what my "down there" looks like at the moment,,,  I try to shave but I haven't used a mirror so its probably gross.  LOL  I am laughing so hard at myself right now.  I'll try the mirror thing.
