what are the chances of both my babies being viable?

Hi guys, my partner and I went for an early scan as I was getting cramps. No bleeding or spotting. All looks good but lo and behold we are told we have 2 sacs and both have yolks. One measures at 5w 2days and the other 5w 3days. We are having another scan in 2 weeks to see if they both have foetal poles and heart beats as was too early for us to see this time. I'm just wondering if any one knows the chances of both living. I keep hearing about the vanishing twin but I can't find anything which gives an indication as to how often this happens

Thanks ladies. I'm only 8 weeks and have put4 kgs on already and am so bloated. I was a size 10 before and my jeans are tight! Guess this is just a sign of things to come. I constantly feel like I'm being stretched lol

We had our first ultrasound at 6wks and discovered two sacs with fetal poles and hearts. Both of ours are now being literal pains in my ribs at 32 wks along. It's a case by case, but the chances, I would think, are pretty good.

No!  They will measure ahead sometimes and sometimes behind throughout your pregnancy.  :). It is completely normal!!  I wouldnt worry about the 3rd sac, it will most liely be gone at your next visit.

Congrats on your twins :). Enjoy your pregnancy!!!!!?

Hiya, update time. I went for my scan yesterday. Both have strong heart beats, one 124bpm and the other 130bpm and both measuring the same at 11mm. I have two concerns though. The first is that if I go by my last menstrual cycle my due date is Dec 1st, my first scan said Dec 2nd but now my dates are Dec 4th which to me means they aren't as big as they should be. Should I be worried? The second concern was that in between my two sacs was an empty 8mm sac, but they couldn't tell what it was. It wasn't on my first scan. She said maybe it was a 3rd that never became anything or just a sac of fluid. Either way I'm wondering if this will affect anything

They are both measuring well, that is a big plus!!!  I bled from week 6 to 16 of my twin pregnancy.  It was scary, but I have 20 month old g/b twins.
I bet your next scan will be just perfect!!!!

Thank you : ) I'm 27 and generally healthy. This is my first pregnancy and twins don't run in either of our families so a big surprise for us but a pleasant one. Am glad I haven't had any bleeding at all, the cramping worried me but now I realise things are stretching to make room for the babies. Am just nervous about going to the next scan and only seeing one

Depending on your age, chances are good :).  Sounds like they are measuring right on track.  Bleeding is quite common In early pregnancy, especially with twins.  2 weeks will tell all :). Please drink lots and lots of water, then drink more.  It keeps your uterus hydrated.  Keep your feet up as much as possible too!!
PleAse let me know how your next scan goes :). So exciting!!!  Twins are a lot of work, but so much fun!!
