They are going to do an organ count, and make sure all the sizes are correct for how long the baby has been in there. They will check the size of the brain, and the heart chambers. The size of the stomach, and the kidneys. They will check the length of the bones, and they will also get a good look at the face to make sure there are no clefts or palets to be worried about. They will get the size and location of the placenta, and also check to see how much amniotic fluid you have.
Make sure you tell them you don't want to know the sex of the baby and ask them to tell you when they are looking because in my opinion it's hard to not see things. . .esp if it's a boy.
Good luck, hope this helps.
Great thanks for the comment! That definitely helps me out! One more hour to go!!!!
I think it's cool that you're not going to find out the sex. I wanted to do that, but I know I would cave. Good luck at your appointment.
haha... A part of me really wants to find out, but I was once told that this is one of the biggest surprises that you will ever get in your life - and I totally agree with that statement.... so as much as it is going to bug me, it will all be worth it in the end.
Well its been a surprise up until now, if you do catch a glimpse :)
They check everything on the scan, however I don't know if my u/s technician checked for cleft, I thought that happened later in pregnancy. Oh well...
They check for a cleft and palet at my 17 week ultrasound. I had to go back at 18 weeks because she refused to turn her head and let us get a get view of her face.
Well everything looked good and the baby measured right on schedule! Everything that was supposed to be there was.
I am not sure what we are having, but I didn't see 3 lines anywhere. I did see something that looked like a boy - but I really have no clue - haha!! I guess we'll see in 20 weeks or so!
