38 weeks, 5cm dilated, sent home AGAIN

The day before yesterday I had a doc app, was checked and told I was at 1cm. Well yesterday at 1am I woke up with horrible contractions, went to er, and was told I was at a 3. After an hour of walking, dilated to a 4.
Was told to walk again for two hours, so I did. But didn't dilate passed a four and they sent me home dispute consistent contractions.

I went again that same day at 5pm with worse contractions, was at 4 1/2cm. After being told to walk for an hour, progressed to 5cm, with longer contractions. Was told to walk another hour, so I did. Was rechecked and I was a smudge more dilated.
They sent me home again because I'm not progressing faster, and because my contractions aren't as long as they want them to be.

Anyone go through anything similar? I am so frustrated.

Becca,  one "good" contraction won't send you from 5 to 9.

It's kind of a mixed blessing that hospitals send women home who aren't progressing in labor.  Used to be,  once you were determined to be in labor (maybe at 3cm), you were stuck in a bed and if you didn't progress you were given pitocin,  and an epidural,  and if you didn't progress on that a C-section.

As it is,  you're being allowed to labor naturally and slowly,  which in the long term is a good thing.

Are you far from the hospital and don't have quick transportation?  If so,  can you bring your hospital bag and books and other stuff to do,  and hang out in patient/family waiting rooms?

I would go back to the hospital and wait in the lobby. Keep walking to progress labour. But at 5cm... It doesn't make any sense being sent home.

Wow that's ********. I'm sorry you have to go through that. They should admit you!!

That doesn't sound right st all, try calling your OB...they can make the hospital admit you.

I was admitted at 2cm with my daughter because my dr had left orders to allow it

My midwife was the one who was checking me.
My contractions have completely slowed down since I left the hospital. But I've completely lost my mucus plug -- absolutely gross.
I am just nervous sitting here knowing I'm at 5cm and nothing is happening.
At any moment, one good contraction could send me from a 5 to a 9. And it's scary.

The last thing I want is to go back to the hospital for a third time and be sent home

That don't sound right at all.... When your at a 4 they have to take you in whether your contractions are far or close.
At least that is what my Dr and nurse told me when I was pregnant with my daughter I stayed at a 3 for a long time and they said once I hit a 4 I'd be in active labor and they would keep me. Once I reached to a 5 I went to the hospital at 4am and I stayed at a 5 till 10am and at 4pm my daughter was born .

They said because this is my second child, that they don't considerate active labor until.your contractions last longer than 30 seconds.
But then she also said that labor could literally start at any time because this is my second. She said I could go from a 5 to an 8 like BAM.
I don't understand why they didn't just keep me. Or at least break my water to get things going.
I would call your OB cause that isn't it right. Once labor has started it can jump extremely fast. They want you to have the baby at home? I've never heard of them sending someone home once they were passed a 4.. That's ridiculous. I pray they just keep you
But definitely call your OB and demand it cause your already there I really don't see why there not keeping you. 2nd pregnancy or not every pregnancy is different and they should know that.
