Hello,
Influenza vaccine administration is recommended in pregnancy or for women who will be postpartum during the flu season (the flu season ranging from october to march).
There is no known harm to the fetus as the vaccine does not contain a live virus. Women receiving the vaccine should not be seriously ill at the time of its administration or have an egg allergy.
The vaccine does contain a preservative called thimersol. There is no connection between thimersol and autism, but you may see this online. There is a thimersol free vaccine alternative.
Best regards,
Dr. Downing
You should take folic acid anyway, get a pre-natal vitamin, it is most important in the first few feeks of the pregnancy. As far as the effects of the cold medicine on your baby, I'm since it was in small doses, it will be fine but I would speak to your doctor about it.
