50/50 to miscarry

Hi all Im new to this but im goin out of my mind with worry .Heres my story!! Im 26 yrs old i have 2 little girls 7 and 5 we started trying for another baby in early june straight away i became pregnant but sadly it turned out to be a chemical pregnancy, so we tried agin i got my lmp 13 july and on 6 aug i got a +hpt 6days before my expected period..... Went to doc everything was fine. So heres the thing on aug 21 when i was 5w 4d pregnant i happened to have a routine ultrasound for gynae issue so i told the tech i was pregnant and she said ok we'll see baby then... but she seen nothing!!! she did vaginal ultrasound and also seen nothing. As you can imagine i was worried sick so i booked a private scan for 31 aug when i would be 7 w 0d pregnant. Went to the ultrasound and seen the sac just which tech said was normal because i was only measuring 5 weeks!! 2 weeks off my own date .... but she also seen a bleed next to the sac and said it could be implantation bleeding or a subchorionic hematoma she said it wasnt looking good and told me i could miscarry but i have to go back in a week to see if sac has grown she said its 50/50 and just to pray for the best. She said only because the tech seen nothing 10 days previous that she has hope it may be ok but how can i be only 5 weeks if i had a very early +hpt. I am so confused and already find myself grieving for my baby any thoughts would be of great help x

Hi!
Well, if you were my patient, I would have to say that some things don't seem to add up.  First of all, most pregnancy tests will not be positive that early, so that seems odd.  The fact that the first scan showed nothing  and the second scan did show a sac, I would interpret as a good finding, depending upon how large the gestational sac was.  A large gestational sac with no yolk sac is not a good sigh.
If you were my patient, I would do a quantitative HCG at this point, and a progesterone level.  Depending upon the results I could give you a little more information on the prognosis.  A progesterone level over 15 is a good sign.  An hcg which is doubling every 48 hours is a good sign.
Waiting for another ultrasound in a week may be hard, but that is what will really give you the definitive information.
Good luck!
