6w4d w/bleeding, after recurrent miscarriages

Hi there,

I have had two back-to-back miscarriages, before 8 weeks, within the last two years. Within a two days after my BFP, I began bleeding moderately. I was almost positive I was having another miscarriage. I went in to my OB; hcg 2,000 and progesterone 6. OB started me on progesterone supp, 100mg at bedtime. Also, had a sono and there was a heartbeat, although it wasn't audible.

I continue to have bright bleeding, but am so confussed as to what in the world is going on!! Has anyone had any experiences with this? I would also love to know if anyone has had a viable pregnancy with moderate bleeding and low progesterone.

Any advise would be greatly appreicated.

Thanks so much :)

I am glad that I could help you out. I would have never have known either and I have had 2 early miscarriages and 2 pregnancies that resulted in little perfect boys. I hope that you can get things situated and I hope that the rest of your pregnancy is uneventful!

Thanks so much for the info. It easies my mind a bit, but I definitely need to ask about increasing my dose of progesterone. Actually, Nickie, it totally makes sense, considering I typically miscarry within weeks into my pregnancy. I will absolutely bring that up at my appt this week.

Thanks so much to you all :)

Hey I have had the same problem.. my bleeding wasn't as severe but I went right to my doctor's office and they did a blood test (again) which showed that my progesterone was dropping also. This is caused by not having a cyst (that you are supposed to have that produces progesterone until the 12th week when the placenta takes over) on your opposite ovary. This can cause recurrent m/c's if not monitored properly. My doctor told me that under no circumstances am I to stop the progesterone suppositories (200mg 3x's a day) because there is a chance of miscarriage. If you are still bleeding then I would definitely ask your doctor about upping your dosage. Best of luck to you!

I had bleeding for almost the whole first trimester of my pregnancy. It was worse then a period and bright red. It was from a subchorionic hematoma. My daughter is now 2 years old.

I had bleeding during my pregnancy but my progesterone level was normal. Everything turned out fine. I'm 30 weeks today. I hope the progesterone helps you maintain this pregnancy. Good luck to you and your baby.
