7 wks 4 days, no Heart Beat, should I be worried?

I went in for my first u/s 2 days ago. The doctor told me the baby has no heartbeat and immediately diagnosed me with miscarriage. Immediately, she told me the option for d&C. I was devastated...

Since this is my first pregnancy, I didn't know much but I sure did lots of research. I've read some didn't heard Heart Beat until 8 weeks or later. Some factor might be too early too detect when they miscalculate the conceived time.

I feel fine with no cramps and bleeding. So, I decided to go for different doctor next week. The wait is awful..My family and I are not giving up and feeling optimistic..

Should I be worried?

thank you-

My 2nd preg.ancy I went it and they couldn't find a heart beat.y doc sent me in for an us and there was no.heart beat because baby was 7wks unstead of what we thoughtful was 9. Its true that you can't always hear the heartbeat early. Good for you for sticking to your gut. An u/s should tell you for sure and I wish you best of luck.

I had a ultrasound at 6.5 weeks we couldn't actually hear the heart beat but we did however see it. All pregnancy are different and babies develop different but you should go check behind your doc. Good luck.

I am 7 weeks 4 days. I went to for my third u/s yesterday. The first one they did and saw no gestational sac; they told me I must have miscarried. The second showed a sac and they predicted I was only 5 and a half weeks ( when they originally thought I was 7 weeks.  My u/s yesterday showed a heartbeat.  If I were you I would wait a week and definitely have another u/s

Thank you for all of your stories...

Unfortunately, I started to pass on Wednesday. I went for my u/s for sec opinion on Tuesday , and the doc did confirm the misscarriage and want me to do d&c which im not comfortable at all. you bet how much we wished to hear something different. But we have prepared for the worst and ready to accept the reality. I guess my body know that it finally ready to let go...:( and in the midst of this unfortunate event, I'm glad God allow me to pass it on immediately right after the last doc visit so I don't have to go through the cold d&c surgery....

I'm still coping and healing as we speak. But, I'm feeling better because friends and families are very supportive.especially my beloved husband, he has been my rock though I know his pain isn't any less than mine..

Thank you all again....

Hi peapodmom. I'll tell you what happened to my hubby and I hopefully it helps you a little.  I got pregnant and didn't know till I was 8 weeks pregnant. My first ultrasound I was told that it wasn't clear so we came back a week later no heartbeat another week passed and I had to get a dnc. I felt horrible torn but my hope was up. They explained that it happens this was my first pregnancy. Here we are and I'm pregnant. Best of luck be positive.

Yes, I have an appointment with other doc this coming Tuesday which will be 8 days from the last u/s. This time, I think I am more prepared. I know there are other methods to check for the pregnancy is viable or not..

We are hoping for the best and know God will make a way and knows what's best for His child..

Thank you and I will keep y'all update..

Best way for them to tell for sure is by doin another internal u/s and measureing how big the are then doin another ten days after to see if there has been any growth i had one done over a month ago and babe only measured 5 but saw a flicker of a heartbeat then did another ten days later which showed more growth and measured at jus under 8 weeks wit a stronger flicker so got given the all clear the midwifes have put me down as a high risk pregnancy but i hope all turns out well for you

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I too was told the same thing at about the same amount of time into my pregnancy and was given information on a D&C but refused to believe my doctor could be correct. I have a tilted uterus and wanted to believe that was why they didn't detect a heartbeat. We waited another week, had another transvag ultrasound unfortunately no growth (and still no heartbeat), one more week...no luck.  I never had any symptoms of a miscarriage, in fact, the morning sickness was getting worse!  I was told I could wait and miscarry naturally which was inevitable or have a D&C.  I opted for the latter as my sister miscarried naturally and ended up having to have a D&C as everything didn't pass out that should have.....and I didn't want to risk that occurring, as a natural miscarry can be painful.  Good luck to you! I wouldn't wish what I went through on anyone.  It was heartbreaking and now almost 2 years later, still no luck :(

I would request a transvag ultrasound. I've read many times of women with tilted uterus' not being able to pick up a heartbeat till closer to 10weeks. Praying for you! Stay positive!

Thanks for the info. This keeps my hopes up.

I had twice trasvaginal u/s. One was done by family doc really early on before 5 weeks, the doc detect a sac which is normal and no yolk or heartbeat yet. The doc mentioned by looking at the growth, I might be earlier than they thought. After all, they all went by the last period to determine how far along I am.

2 weeks later (3 days ago), I went to ob and had another trasvaginal u/s, that;s when they detect no Heart beat but the baby is there. Immediately, doc diagnosed me with miscarriage..

Though overwhelmed, I am not going to believe it. Anything could change in a week and there must be more test can be done like measuring HCG level which the doc never mention or took my blood to see how I progress. My conception date might be off.. Plus, some didn't see HB until 8 weeks and later. Too many uncertainty..If anything , it will happen naturally..

But for now, my husband and I are optimistic!

They refused to listen for a heartbeat until 10 weeks with my second. They said its way easier to pick up after 8 weeks and if any sooner it might be too faint to catch at all.

While many women have miscarriages early in pregnancy without even knowing they were pregnant, HOWEVER, if you have had a pos test I too would suggest a trasvaginal u/s. The machinery is more sensitive and pick up a heartbeat easier.  Good luck.

Thanks Lauren! I wasn't sure. There were no bloodwork done and I am not comfortable with the doc immediate diagnosed. Later on the day I called other doc for opinion, they said the chances are might be too early though some experience differently.

I'm keeping my hope ups now..thanks for your info

You can have a missed miscarriage it's when your baby passes but your body doesn't lose it right away its happened to me with my first pregnancy. My baby passed at 11wks and my body didn't react til I was 15wks.
I just had a ultrasound today im 7wks+5 and they picked up the hb quick even saw the flicker of the beat. Did they try a transvaginal ultrasound its better this early in pregnancy. And keep your doctor on top if everything sometimes if you don't bring things up they won't tell you everything you need to know.
