8 weeks +sick?

ok, I am 8 weeks pregnant, and I understand that some stuffiness and conjestion is normal, but I have been sneezing the last week, horrible headaches, and now post nasal drip symptoms. My throat hurts and I have a lot of stuff coming out of my nose. Is this normal or should I go see a doc? Now if I should see a doc should I see my ob or my general doctor? Can I just call or will I need to go in for a visit. I just feel plain crappy, and not sleeping very well the past few days.
Also no matter what I try ( I keep telling my OB) my headaches are bad and excessive. I have tried Tylenol but it does not seem to help. They linger all day, and seem constant, only dulling as I go to sleep but still there the next day. Is there anything else I can try? I also have g6pd, so I know there are certain medications I cannot be on. Ty for any help.

Thank you. I finally could not take the symptoms anymore, couldn't sleep very well last night because of all the congestion and called my OB. They got me in for an appointment earlier today and found Post nasal drip symptoms. They gave me some antibiotics, nasal spray, Tylenol and mucinex to break it all up. I also talked to them about the headaches, they want to wait a little longer to see if its just the hormones ( which I think it is anyways) and if they keep being persistent they want to do a scan to make sure all is ok.

Thank you so much for your time and your advice!

Hello,

You can go either to your ob/gyn or internist/PCP for your upper respiratory symptoms.  Most cold medicines are fine in pregnancy (tylenol cold, benadryl, pseudofed).

And don't forget the benefits of good sleep and staying well hydrated.

Talk with your ob regarding other options regarding your headaches.  They may want to try a stronger pain med, or sometimes anti-nausea medications can help with headaches.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
