Am I just going crazy??

So I dont know if you remember but last week I got tested for lead poisoning because they were doing work in our apartment and we were possibly exposed to lead paint dust from them sanding and that is the most dangerous part. Well I got tested and my level was 3 but they dont really do anything unless you are a level 10 but I have researched some more information on the internet and they say that even the littlest amount of lead can harm a fetus and can harm their brain and IQ and stuff. So on Saturday a city inspector came and took samples and he just called today and said that the results came back as very high levels of lead. Now my doctor told me last week not to return to my home but I dont have any other place to go (its just me, my boyfriend, and our puppy here) and we dont have money for a hotel or anything so i have been staying here. I feel very bad but i don thave any other choice. But anyway... Im like freaking out!! Should I get retested just to make sure my levels didnt go up or should I talk to some other doctors?? What should I do?

Kelly87 what part of Cali are you in?

I'm in Hemet (so cal about an hour from Riverside)

I'm sorry about all of your stress, and hope it gets better. Hopefully you haven't continued to be exposed (your levels haven't gone up I mean) and hopefully you'll get compensated by your jerk of a landlord/mgr.

Oh dear! That is very stressful!!! Well if there is some type of medication, that is safe during pregnancy, to help alleviate those lead levels, then definitely get re-tested.

Yeah well I already have evidence. We filed a small claims for the maximum for all of our rent and deposit and medical bills and breach of contract and other things. Our court date is May 8th. So not only am I dealing with this im also stressed about this lawsuit. He doesnt want to settle. He thinks he is going to win but we have evidence that he rented us a unhabitable unit and we have the health inspectors and the housing inspectors reports and pictures to prove it. we are moving as soon as we get our money back. We are all packed up. just waiting for the money to move :(

There is not a single place you could stay? A friend's home maybe? Or could you guys "go camping" so to speak. Here's an idea---tell your landlord he needs to pay for a hotel for you guys for a week or until they can fix the problem!

I remember that when you told us about the lead poisoning, you mentioned your body will absorb it as calcium within 72 hours, right? So getting re-tested may not make a difference. But if you want a lawsuit against your landlord then you need the evidence.
