Anyone in So. California feel the earthquake today?

We had a 5.4 magnitude earthquake today a little before noon. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Chino Hills, which is right next to the city I live in.I was having lunch with my husband, niece, and friend at a restaurant when the earth started shaking. I got so scared and I felt my baby kick once, isn't that weird? It lasted for a little while and when it was over I was so dizzy. I am just so thankful to God that it was not strong enough to cause serious damage and so far there are no injuries reported. Anyone else feel the earthquake? I heard it was felt from LA to San Diego and even a little in Las Vegas.

Wow that must be scary glad you're all alright. I don't live in a place where earthquakes or tornadoes happen I've never been through those before.

You're right. I wasn't thinking about the fact that you get a warning with tornadoes. Earthquakes are so unpredictable, you just never know when they will happen. I love the rain and thunder too, and I hate the heat, but I don't think I could live anywhere else. I am also terrified of the BIG ONE hitting, today was just really a wake up call that it will happen sooner or later.

YES. I prefer tornadoes. You at least have a couple minutes of warning with those.

I lived in Arkansas for 9 years, in Sebastian County and that's right in Tornado Alley. I LOVE Thunder and lightening and pouring rain. I think that other than humidity I'd be at home in a Rainforest! lol.

tornadoes DO happen all the time in the midwest, HOWEVER so do earthquakes, they're just small. and I'd rather be in a tornado than the BIG ONE when it hits!!

Wow, grandmatobe, that was a close call with your granddaughter! I'm glad everything was ok and she didn't get hurt!
Avanaar, the earthquake was said to be 5.8 at first, but was then reduced to 5.4. We are truly lucky that it was not worse than that. Everyone has been talking about the "big one" being imminent and this one wasn't it. It's just a wake up call and now we know we need to try to prepare for the next one, whenever it comes.
martikadragoon, do you really prefer tornadoes? I would be terrified of a tornado! It seems like they happen very often in the midwest, like every year. I wish I could just live somewhere where there are no natural disasters at all!

yep, I was at work. I live in Hemet about 2 hrs away from LA and 1hr from Riverside.

Everyone at work felt it and we all got quiet to see if it would get any stronger. Scared eh holy hell out of me. I WISH I lived back in arkansas... I prefer tornadoes to quakes any day!

A friend of mine on another board said she was in an earthquake today (probably the same one), tho she said it was 5.8.  She was 3 stories down in a parking garage when it happened.  I'm definitely glad I don't live in earthquake country ...but we have our natural disasters too.  "Hooray for Tornados!"  >.>

Glad you ladies are okay!

Sure did.  Knocked a picture off our mantel and broke a candle (glass everywhere).  My daughter grabbed my granddaughter from her swing when the shaking started and got her out seconds before the picture and candle came crashing down.  Whew!

I was in the car when it hit and thought my tire went flat, as my car jerked from side to side for a second.  We haven't had a significant quake in quite awhile.
