BED REST

I am 6 weeks pregnant, I have gone to the E.R. 2 times because of bleeding and I went to my OB today and he put me on bed rest for the next 6 weeks, what exactly is bed rest? Do I actually HAVE to stay in bed for the next 6 weeks?

What your Dr. means by pelvic rest is that you need to keep your pelvis at a 45 degree angle .. Which means laying down really... Only to keep the pressure of your uterus off your cervix to keep it from dilating which can happen.... I know it's hard and you can go stir crazy, but until they figure it out.... Good luck..

He did not know what the bleeding was from, he said that my HCG levels are increasing which is great and that the ultrasound looked great and the heart rate was also great.... I do not think I have had my progesterone levels checked! I have had 2 pelvic exams done and they do not seem to see anything wrong, which is weird to me.

I am on bed rest and pelvic rest. He is having me go back in for an ultrasound on the 3rd and then I have another appointment with him on the 9th!

yes you do! I have been on bed rest with 4 pregnancies and you have to stay in bed except to pee and get a shower each day. You can move to the couch or chair but have to be laying more then sitting. I know it is hard but I had to for all 4 the whole time. Did they tell you what the bleeding was from? Did they check your progesterone levels??? He needs to do this. Mine was low and why I bleed the whole time the first 4 pregnancies. I was put on suppliments this last time and did nto bleed nor ahve pre term labor when I was on the pill or shots.

There is rest, bed rest, and pelvic rest. Bed rest is rest in a laying position and not getting up! Sorry but it is worth it and I hope the bleeding stops and you are OK. If you do not do the bed rest and something happens he may keep you on it longer.
