You should watch YouTube videos! Although it doesn't fully prepare you for labor and delivery, watching those videos gives you an idea of what labor is like. I search "labor and delivery" on YouTube.

I just had my baby almost 6 weeks ago, I'm 24, so a little older, but it's not like that matters. :) but I was induced, so I went it, got this pill to help soften my cervix. I took that 4 times every 6 hours. Then I was put on pitocin. The contractions at first felt like period cramps that tighten my whole stomach. Then my water broke on its own, which for me, I felt a release of pressure and then a gush of fluids. I had just peed before it broke and was getting back in the bed, so that's how I knew it was my water. Then my contractions got very intense where I felt them in my stomach and down into my cervix, so I decided to get an epidural. That was difficult to stay still and not push my back out because that's how my back reacts to things. Well once I got that, I got a catheter put in because you can't get up to pee when you get the epidural. Then I slept a few hours until it was time to push. I got very nauseous when I was in labor too because I got to a point I was progressing faster than my body could deal with. The nurse had me push with her for a little bit till my daughters head stayed down enough that it wasn't going back up. Then my dr came in and just a few pushes later, she was out. The shoulders hurt the most because that's the widest part of the body. Once she was out, I didn't notice my after birth come out because I was holding my daughter. Then I got a few stitches because I got a little tear. After a little bit, they have you get up to go to the bathroom, and they tell you how to clean yourself after peeing because it hurts to wipe, actually, you really don't want to even wipe. The first day, it's a lot of bleeding and calms down quite a bit by the 3rd day. But the second day is the worst with stitches, it hurts to sit in some positions. But just stay calm, it's totally worth it. Just rest up now, exercise a lot, and keep up with whatever your dr tells you to do now.

Contractions feel different for everyone.  When Iwent into the hhospital it was for servere back pain. I only went to the hospital because I needed the excuse because I missed work.  I later found out I was in early stages of labor. They said Iwwasn't far enough so they sent me home.  Three hours later I was back because the pain was constant and much worse with added pressure on my hips. For the most part it was manageable for the next four hours.  I just took deal breaths to stay calm, but I was extremely hostile especiallyto my mmother becauseshe jkept asking if I was okaywhen iI was focusing on breathing through the pain. After i got farther along I started cramping in my legs,  so it was hard to keep my legs up how they wanted me to.  After about four hours I was up to 9 cm,  and got both iv painkillers and the epidural. The epidural caused me to not be able to feel or move my right leg and arm. But oh man I felt great.  Once I was fully Dialated my water broke,  and I started pushing. But the drugs were so strong thay I couldn'tfeel cContractionsand needed my mother and husband on bboth sides to hold me up to push. It was painful during the pushing, but because of the drugs I would literally laugh during the resting stages. After awhile Contractions stopped so they gave me pictosinto help me ffinish five minuteslater my son was born.  He came so qquickly thay the doctor want Even in the room yet.  It took me nearly 12 hours for the epidural to wear off and be able to walk.

I'm sorry for such a long answer but you asked aabout birth, so I thought I would share my experience with you

I was 17 with my first. Contractions feel like your stomach is tightening. The worst bit about the whole thing (for me) was weeing after and I only grazed! Just don't think of the pain and get on with pushing it makes it easier that way, I only had gas and air for 5 mins then started pushing! She was born 9lb10. Now expecting my second baby April 2nd at 18 :) you will be fine just stay active near your due date I painted my flat in the last four weeks to take my mind off everything! And she came two days late! X X X

Oh and it depends on how long it takes for you to dilate to 10cm before you can start pushing... Within that waiting time you're having contractions and if your water doesn't break by the time you're dilated they'll do it for you and it's painless.

Well every woman's labor is different. I'm 24 I had my first son at 19. I'm pregnant again with my 2nd child and it's a girl.Im also 23 weeks.  My experience with my son was pretty well even though I was young so don't feel discouraged because of your age. Have confidence and try your best to remain calm during labor because it will go by much easier and quicker. Contractions are very painful. I don't mean to scare you if I am but I'm being honest. The pain takes over your entire body. If it's too much for you to manage beg for drugs and to get an epidural. Pushing really isn't all that bad. Just push As hard as you can as your midwife instructs you. If she tells you to stop during labor please stop. You'll push as she counts to 10,gather your breath, and repeat until your baby comes out. Listen to everything she says because she's going to be the person in between your legs delivering your blessing to you. The after birth is painless but once they pull out the placenta they press on your stomach super hard to get all of the after birth out and that's painful but nothing compares to the contractions. Once everything is over trust me it will be worth it.  It's best that you walk 30 mins everyday starting asap. Exercise helps alot.. Drink plenty of water, get good rest. Don't be lazy while you're this far along be active as you can. Don't be afraid because you'll do fine. I pray for a beautiful, healthy bby, and a safe delivery for you. Good luck.
