Birth Control

How soon after you gave birth did you get on BC? Do you recommend the depo shot or the rod? Why?

I had the implanon, which is the arm implant. I HATED it. It messed with my moods and took my see drive to zero. I kept it in for two years until I put two and two together and had it taken out. I was is much happier. I went on a year of nuva ring and I loved it. It was so easy to deal with and it didn't mess with my moods or see drive.

Trust and believe it will get better hun. My last pregnancy, I delivered my son who was stillborn at 38 weeks. The hardest thing I ever had to do.

I would try again, but my situation isn't all that great. I'm doing ok, still dealing with my loss, as well as the situation with hubby and I moving out of our apartment, plus more stuff. So i'm all around stressed. But maybe in a couple years I will have another little one(:

Bree61714, I often think of you. How are you doing? Well I see your asking about birth control choices/options so I guess I won't ask if you planned to try soon again. Take Care,  Hope All Is Well sweetie

The arm implant has all the side effects of being pregnant and I defiantly don't want to feel pregnant for however long I have a bc in!

I have had implanon and nexplanon. Both before I got pregnant (obv) I had the implanon for the full 3 year then I replaced it with nexplanon which I had for a year then I got it removed to try for baby. I fell pregnant instantly. I had no trouble with either methods. I totally recommend them!

I had the implanon... I think the nexplanon is what it is now? I would definitely recommend the arm implant(rod) but thats just me. :)

I've had the depo and boy does it make you gain weight. My sister was also on the depo in the navy and she was a skinny thing but when she came home she was plump from being on it. I've also had the arm implant and after this baby since its #3 I'm going with the arm implant myself I like it and it worked last time. The rod as in mirana? My sister has it and don't like It to much.

I had the depo as a collegiate athlete. I was running track and on a strict diet working out at least twice a day and gained 50 lbs. I had the implant in my after that and I was able to drop the weight and it didn't make me sick I plan on going back to it after baby is born.

I took the depo shot 2 times, each lasting 3months, so a total of 6 months. I gained SO MUCH weight from it, they say its supposed to stop your period (mine never did, nor never "slowed down") I would personally never get it again, it made me have worse headaches, etc. But its really up to you, just my personal experience with it : /

After I have my baby girl next month, at my 6 week pp check up I will probably get on the pill, my husband and I discussed it and I just think for now that would be my best option :)

I heard that if you gain weight then it is their fault. Some BC can make you feel hungrier, so if you eat more, then that is how you gain so much weight.

Some people say that depo makes you fat. & the pill made me sooo sick , I couldn't stand it. Idk about any others.

I am doing it at my 6 week appointment and I think I am going with the arm implant because I got pregnant on the pill and my other choice for a breastfeeding friendly BC was nuvaring and I didnt want that. The implant if your body takes it is good up to 3 years and is breastfeeding friendly and i dont have to worry about keeping time to go in for a shot or to take a pill. Most do it at 6 week appointment so i would do some research and go from there and do what is best for you.
