worried

Hi.. I recently took HPT and it was postive! When I went to the doctor last friday, she saw nothing. I was told it was too early. I was told to come back in two week for another vaginal ultrasound.
Is this normal?... If last period was around Novemer 15th? When will The doctor be able to see SOMETHING in the ultrasound?.. yolk? sac? anything?

Hello,

In a normally developing pregnancy it is not until around 5 weeks that a transvaginal ultrasound may detect signs of an early intra-uterine pregnancy.  The earliest signs being the gestational sac and yolk sac, followed by what is called a fetal pole and then evidence of fetal heart activity.   Your last menstrual period puts you at about 4 weeks and 6 days, so still very early.

Also, one cannot assume a normal pregnancy until it is detected.  Thus, there is always the possibility of having an ectopic pregnancy (a pregnancy outside of the uterus, usually in the tubes) or an abnormal early pregnancy inside the uterus.  Any of these concerns should be identified with your ultrasound in two weeks.

Congratulations and best wishes.

I just miscarried. When is it best ti try for another baby? I am 40 yrs. old and afraid of this happening again. I have had 2 other pregnancies. One chd.  is 18 and the other is 10. Are my eggs too old? Ut sounds silly I know but, I would love to try despite my reservations. Please advise. I was 14 wks when i found out I lost the babies. (twins) after about 6 wks and 5 wks the twins passed away. I found out I was pregnant when I was about 12 wks. and the midwife was telling me they were ok and movement but a posibility of one of the scas seemd smaller. I have lost hope in midwifry. But, that is beside the point. Than k you
