Bleeding vs. Period

I've hard a few people say that you can still bleed while you are pregnant. What I would like to know, though, is (aside from biological differences), what is the difference between bleeding when you're pregnant, and having an actual period, indicating that you are not pregnant?

In other words, how could one tell (reasonably, at least) whether they were pregnant or having their period based off of physical signs and details?

Thank you in advance for your help. I'm quite paranoid that I might be pregnant, and knowing this information will greatly help me ease my fears... I hope, at least! :)

The best way to stop being paranoid about this is to just take a test. I had spotting that was just a little lighter than my normal period for the first 3 months of my pregnancy. It wasn't until I couldn't hold anything down and had hot flashes that I decided to take a test. I was 10 weeks when I found out.

Good luck.

there is a great differnce betweent spotting/bleeding and a full blown period! ones a period with the cramps. lenght. flow....everything that happens when you have  period and when you spot/bleed. (its mostly spotting if even that) its in no way similar to a period. its a few drops of blood here and there. not filling a pad or tampon. etc theres a differnce and you would know

yes if your so worried your pregnant than simply take a test. that will put your mind at ease

I bled during my pregnancy but it was almost everyday for 5 weeks. Periods last a certain length and come at a certain time. If in doubt take a test since it should give you an accurate answer.

I bled heavily for eight hours with cramps 2 days before I found out I was pregnant again after a miscarriage. I would bleed off and on for days with clots and cramping and still gaffs a healthy baby. Each person is different
