Breast feeding/nipple concerns

About 6 years ago I pierced my nipples and I don't wear the rings anymore but the holes are definitely still there. Another concern I have is that while I still wore the rings one got snagged on my bathing suit and tore the nipple on my right side. It didn't rip all the way through but it did rip about 2/3 of the way and it never healed back together so it will always be split. I really want to breast feed but I'm afraid I won't be able to. Any input?

Talk with a licensed lactation consultant about your concerns - your ob or the hospital you're registered with will be able to get you in touch with someone. But you should not have any issues because of it - since when a baby is properly latched on the entire nipple and a good portion of the areola is in baby's mouth, the holes and even the tear should not affect the ability to nurse at all. Lots of moms successfully breastfeed after having had nipple piercings - I would not worry about it. Good luck!

You could always try a nipple shield :)

How many weeks are u? Once or if u start leaking (dont worry some ppl dont seem to leak at all before baby) u can try expressing a lil or try a pump (just to see how itll come out dont start pumping on regular basis at all before baby) if it doesn't work out for u im sorry but u at least want to try so that makes u a great mom in itself
