Actually the affordable care act of 2012 made it so most insurance companies have to cover at least a percentage of them, so actually most DO cover them. When I spoke to Blue Cross Blue shield I never even gave them my insurance info, just asked if they covered them and that was the info they gave me that they do.

I also have Blue Cross Blue Sheild and I spoke to them the other day and they said they cover a standard electric pump but not hospital grade, with a preferred or participating providers they cover 100%. On the back of your insurance card will be a website for the insurance, go to that and register, to find a participating prodivder go to the "My Navigator" tab then click "Provider search" then search "Medical Equipment" and you can find one in your area or one that will mail it to you, you will have to probably call a few companies to see if they have breast pumps. Preferred providers have one green $ sign next to their company name and participating providers will have 2 $ signs, make sure to pick from those. Then ask your dr for a prescription just in case they ask for one, and get started right away because it might take a while to get your pump. If the medical equipment company tells you that you have to wait till birth tell them your insurance said that you do not have to wait as long as you have the prescription, and if that doesn't work they have to approve it at least two weeks before your estimated due date. If they aren't helpful move on to another company that will do it.
