Breastfeeding and bottle feeding?

I had originally planned on just breastfeeding... But I was wondering how doing the bottle feeding along with it works? I plan to breastfeed mostly. But would it be okay to feed baby formula sometimes? And would it still be just as healthy as only breastfeeding?

To answer your question as long as you mainly breast feed its about the same the only times I wanted to give the bottle was when I was in the car or if I was cooking etc but if you want to make sure you can ask your doctor or the bbys Doctor again good luck n congratulations

All bbys are different, I breast feed and I thought on giving her the formula but she wouldn't take it as mad n as much as she would cry she just wouldn't take it to be honest she wouldn't even take the breast milk in a bottle ...my aunts daughter takes both like nothing she is a happy either way but I've notice she gets a lot of gas n doesn't sleep through out the night I don't know if its because the breast milk n formula is to much for her but my daughter sleep perfect every night ..GOOD LUCK

I am planning on breast feeding I just have not decided if I am going to pump all the time and use the milk in a bottle or do both breast and bottle(with breast milk) I work at a hotel and sometimes we work 9 10 hours at a time.  But I am going to make it work.

It is usually an easy transition for most babies from just breast to a bottle sometimes. The specialists recommend nursing exclusively for the first few weeks to ensure baby is latching well, etc. After you get a routine established you can introduce a bottle, if you like or need to. As pp said, it is best to pump & feed breast milk so it is a consistent food type for baby, and so it doesn't affect your milk supply. Milk is produced on a supply & demand system, so if you reduce the demand for it, you will produce less. There is nothing wrong with substituting a formula bottle here & there, but be aware it could be a little upsetting to babies digestive system. With my first child, I returned to work full time after 4 weeks leave. I pumped every 2-3 hours a day while away from baby. I exclusively breastfed for the first 12 months. I did have a can of formula in my diaper bag for emergencies. I think once a bottle of breast milk was spilled or something so the caregiver was short a bottle for that day, etc. It can be done. ;-)

It would be better if you pump and feed the baby breast milk from a bottle.
