Car Accident!

So, we had quite a scary night last night. We were on our way to meet Matt's (DF) parents for dinner when we were driving by the mall and stopped at a stop light...there was a ton of traffic it being the last weekend before christmas and everything so it was really stop and go even at the lights. so when the light turned green people were still stopped in front of us and right when we were about to go..BAM some guy smashed right into the back of us and it caused a huge jolt. all i could think about automatically was the baby and i started crying almost right away...i had just been talking about how the baby kept kicking the seatbelt and then when we got in the accident obviously the seat belt had locked right over where he was laying. Luckily our car wasnt hurt too bad...just a crack in the bumper and some gashes but the person who hit us car was alllll messed up. we had to wait quite a bit of time for the police to get there and all i was doing was hoping and praying...waiting for my baby to kick again. Matt was totally freaked out and kept asking me if i was ok and if i felt him yet...i dont think ive ever seen him so nervous in my life. about an hour after the accident we went into the emergency room so we could check on the baby...we knew if we didnt go in that night we wouldnt be able to sleep. so we went in and luckily we were the only ones in the whole e.r so we got back pretty quick. they took a urine sample and went to get the doppler right away...Matt was seated in a chair across from me when the nurse put the gel on my stomach and our eyes were locked...we were both too scared to look away from eachother. The nurse put the doppler on and we didnt hear anything...she searched all over my belly and we didnt find anything. Matt was shifting in his chair and was barely breathing...he looked like he was gonna pass out...all i could do was stare at him. 15 minutes went by and she was still searching...she was dead silent by the way...she didnt say a word...just searched. Finally after the longest 15 minutes of my life there it was 128bpm my little one was still alive....i thought i was gonna throw up..it had seemed like hours! as soon as the nurse left the room Matt and i both burst into tears and hugged eachother...neither of us could stop crying. i think it was the scariest 15 minutes of my whole entire life...and matts too. he kept saying he had no idea what he was gonna do....we just kept taking deep breaths and thanking god. it was so scary! then they took us upstairs to put me on a monitor to watch his heartbeat and to make sure i wasnt having any contractions...i wasnt and my little boy's heart beat was strong as ever and when we were upstairs was when i started to feel him kick again. his heart was beating and he was kicking...we were finally ok. we got to go home after about 20 minutes of monitoring. My back is pretty sore so im on bed rest for 2 days just to be safe but im ok with just some tylonel....im okay because our little matthew is okay...thank god he's ok. that was all the excitement i needed for the rest of my pregnancy!
i hope everyone else remains safe and sound this holiday season....be careful out there!

we're all okay and yikes your story sounded scary too! sometimes you forget that we also have to watch out for other drivers who arent paying attention and not just worry about our driving! it can be really scary...especially during the holiday season!

Omg I hope you're alright!
When I was I think 5 months pregnant with my son hubby n I were on our way to his brothers house, and we were fixin to take a right onto the interstate and this guy iin a big white SUV started to pull outta the gas station.
There was 2 lanes, I was in the far one, he pulled into the left one right next to me.
We were the only 2 people on the road, no one infront no one behind me.
And the buttmunch just swerved into my lane and ran me off the road into a ditch!
I had hubby in the passanger seat and Ivy in the back.
It scared the CR@P outta me all I could think of was my son okay cuz the seatbelt locked up on my stomach and was really tight and uncomfortable.

LUCKILY we were alright and our car was fine too.

I'm SO thankful that everything is ok with you and your little man!  DH was rear-ended 3-4 weeks ago, but I wasn't in the car, thankfully.

Anyway, I'm just so glad that everything is alright :-)

lol yeah i really wanted to ring that nurses neck but i was silenced with trying to listen for the heartbeat ....im sure she really didnt want to be the bearer of bad news. since she was an e.r. nurse and not an OB nurse she just probably didnt have the experience with this sort of thing...that coulda been why it took her so long to find the heart beat as well. i know it wasnt really her fault that those dopplers can be pretty tricky but at the time i wanted to shake her and to tell her to just find my baby! it was especially scary being 21 weeks because being that far along i always thought it should be easy to find his heartbeat!

im soo glad everything  is ok!!  PPL need to slow the he** down! Like really  talk abbout road rage....they tend not to think about who could be in the car in front of them or on the side of them! Traffic really gets to me! Im glad you were able to stay strong i would have freaked at that nurse for saying NOTHING! lol...SOOO happy things are ok!! Take it easy and lets hope everyone stays safe over the holidays and after!! :) Merry Christmas  everyone! :):)

I'm glad you and the baby are ok that is very scary!!! I know what you mean about the few minutes seeming to take forever, my best friend was watch my kid's for our anniversary and then we got a call saying that the kid's and my best friend had been hit by another car ata stoplight, we rushed over there and one of my kid's was'nt waking up the paramedics had him in the ambulance and were doing all kind of things to try and wake him up (he was barely 2 at the time and my other child was 4 months) it took them a little over 10 minutes after i got there to wake him up and then he was groggy, but ok and those 10 minutes seemed to take forever it felt like hours freaking out!!! I am so glad you are ok it can be absolutly terrifying!!

wow!! what a fright.....thank god the baby is absolutely fine. I had a very similar experience with my son too....I was probably 13 weeks then and our car was hit from the back and had a huge jolt...I was terrified to death but my baby wasn't harmed...I can totally understand how you must be feeling....relax now since all is ok and let us thank God for taking care of our little ones in such scary incidents

AHHHH!!!!! I think I read through that faster than anything I've ever read!  So very glad that all turned out ok..
I'm such a nervous passenger since I walk 99% of the time, everywhere that I have to go... and am even worse now that I'm carrying around such precious cargo!.. so scary to think about all those people in vehicles that just aren't 100% on their game...

Glad that you got in right away and got taken care of so well at the hospital.. I can't imagine what that 15 min. must have felt like for both of you!  Glad that you could have a chance to cry together and be there for each other through it all though!

Oh boy, my heart is still pumping so hard for you!!

*hugs*
