Castor oil

So I was told by my doctor this is the only natural way to go into labour I've heard so many positive things as well as negative so please if you have any negative comments keep them to yourself I'm under enough stress without judgemental people. My question is why does it say it's massage oil? Confused.

I've had the same doctor with all my pregnancies so I trust what he says n I agree their all natural what's in castor oil none of my family or friends that tried it had diarrhoea besides I normally get that when I'm about to go in labour so either way I was going to get it. And yes honestly thankyou ladies I do appreciate your advice. But I've tried absolutely everything from squats to sex which isn't nice when your in as much pain as me. And nothing worked I'm already scared with this pregnancy as there's been so many downs hardly any ups it's a blessing to even be carrying. But thankyou most of you on this site have done nothing but support me all through this pregnancy n I'm very grateful. Care care n good luck to you all xxxxx

I dont think anyone us trying to scare you out of doing it but are just looking out for your best interest. Im personally suprised your doc told you its the only natural way to start labor because my OB is totally against it due to the simple fact that it can be risky so hed rather not take a chance with my child but every womans doctors are different. Good luck with it, I wish you a healthy delivery.

Not worth the risk, or the diarrhea for that matter, being in labor is already bad enough, you wanna feel sick right before too

I wasn't trying to make up feel bad but I was just trying to prevent a potentially bad situation like I was saying... You're right, it can happen without taking castor oil but castor oil does put stress on your body whether you're pregnant or not! I wasn't trying to scare you or anything but just trying to put my input in since ou asked for advice... But you should double check with your doctor because I asked two different psychians who told me that should never be an option since it can be dangerous

I've heard it tastes awful. But honestly I would try doing squats, walking or intercourse before anything else.

I'm curious your doctor said it's the only "natural" way to go into labor.

The natural way is to wait until the baby is ready, not create such havoc with your bowels that your uterus also starts contracting because you suddenly have violent diarrhea.

While it's true that if you're within a day of giving birth in a natural way,  taking castor oil laxative can speed that up a little.  But at what cost?  Who wants diarrhea?

I wasn't saying anything bad! I was just saying that it sounded strange! I in no way am dissing you for trying it I tried it along with many other natural ways! And to the person saying it's not natural yes it is it's made from all natural ingredients! Girl you do what you want to get that baby out! I tried castor oil, evening primrose oil, pineapples and pineapple juice, sex, birthing ball, spicy food, dancing, and anything I could!

I have taken the right stuff thankyou. And no offence but trying to scare me or make me feel bad about taking something my doctor said I could have isn't going to work this is my 6th child all my friends n family have tried it n their babies were fine n healthy n so were the mothers I appreciate your concern hun but you honestly do not need to put such a negative input on what I've been told is fine like you said babies can poo in the womb without taking castor oil. I've just had a little girl die in the family n I feel bad enough without complete strangers making me feel bad about taking it. But if it makes you feel better I'm not touching it til I'm in hospital Monday morning were they can monitor us both just incase. Good luck with your pregnancies ladies n thankyou for your advice xxx

Castor oil does have pros for some people and cons for others. I have heard a story recently on Facebook about a mother who took castor oil since her mother took it and it worked for her... Well she ended up putting stress on her baby and her baby pooped in the womb (which can happen even without taking castor oil) and the baby ended up swallowing it and fighting days for her life until she died... Like I said it works for some but not for others, but I look at it like, why take a chance doing something that could potentially turn out very dangerous than just waiting for labor to come naturally or doing NATURAL things such as walking, jogging, sex, squats, etc. every women to their own but that's my opinion and castor oil is not a natural way to induce labor, it's a natural laxative that can potentially but your body under loads of stress.

please make sure you are getting the right stuff!! to mix them up would be terrible, after you take it make sure you stay active, its not going to work if you sit around and do nothing go for a walk, clean house ect

The one you want is a laxative because when your Bowles contract it can cause your uterus to start contracting

I think your looking at the wrong stuff! Mine says it's an all natural laxative! Also try evening primrose oil! It's a capsule I just cut the top off or poked a hole in it and put it as close to my uterus as I could get! And pineapple/pineapple juice, sex, and bouncing on a birthing ball or exercise ball!!
