Cervix

Ok so i was checking to see what my cervix was up to. Lol idk if thats weird or not. It feels pretty soft and is far up there. Is that normal? They told me my baby was already head down since i found out at around 19 wks that i was having a girl. Kind of hard to explain but she is towards the front of my vagina inside my womb still ofcorse but when i put my finger in her head is literally right inside when i press up. Closer then my cervix. Is that normal as well? My vagina is squished by her head if that helps to explain it a little. And my final question is can i make myself bleed by trying to check my cervix?

usually if you ask your doctor to check, because you are concerned, they will do it. but dont do it routinely.  My doctor taught me to check myself, but i dont poke hard or anything like that, just to see if it has softened or if I started to dilate.  I use rubber gloves, so there is not an issue with checking, but I wouldnt go poking around inside there, you might break your water or cause more problems than you are intending to.  I would hate for you to go into early labor since that is the one thing you are trying to prevent.   So just mention to your doctor that you are nervous because your last was preterm and see if they will check to make sure you are not at risk this time.  :)

I guess they could possibly use the clamp to open you up as if your having a smear and use a light too look inside, it's best you ask them at your appointment xx

They usually don't start checking until gone 37 weeks my midwife wouldn't check mine until gone 40 weeks,  they don't really like too check before 37 weeks as it can cause you to go into labour, hopefully your little one stays in longer this time just don't go poking around leave it to the professionals and see what they say on your next appointment, don't forget that your dating scan can be 2 weeks off either way

About 30 wks. I had my first daughter at 36 wks, but I'm really hoping to make it 37+. I don't have another appointment till the 30th and they didn't check at my last appointment. Im not real close but i just wanted to see because i did have my daughter early and don't know if they even checked me before i had my first daughter. Id like to know if something is going on before hand cause i don't want to be totally surprised like i was the first time.

Yeah its normal for a cervix too be high up during pregnancy when you start dilating and effacing the cervix starts to shorten which the midwives can sort of determine when baby is likely to come when they do a cervix check nearer your due date, but they aren't always correct with it
How far along are you? xx

Yes you can make yourself bleed, and you should only be letting either your doctor or midwife check your cervix as they know what they are doing :)
