Chances of Pregnancy

Hi - I am actually a 21 year old male and recently started dating a 22 year old female.  We were having sex and upon finishing, I took myself out, and unfortunately saw the condom had broke.  It had been fine a few minutes earlier, and I did not feel any different at any point, so it must have happened at the end.  It looks like the the top part of it just shattered off.

Anyway, this is of course means I ejaculated inside my girlfriend's vagina.  Naturally I am freaking out.  She is on the birth control pill, and says she has been for 4 years.  She said she has been really good about it for the past month or two, taking only a few doses an hour or two late.  However, she said she has had weird issues on the pill where she has gone like 2-3 months without period, or the period will come at random times, and so has always been a little concerned the pill was not 100% working.  I do not know the details of this an issue/how reliable the pill is for preventing pregnancy.  Thoughts?

I believe she finished her period 6-7 days ago, so definitely fertile although I think that is also not the most fertile time.  We talked a little, and she did not want to take the Morning After pill because of what it would do to her body, and she thinks she will be fine.  What exactly are the effects of the Morning After pill?  I completely respect if she would prefer not to take it, and so just wanted to see how likely pregnancy is given this situation and what you would recommend doing?  - Both of us definitely do not want a pregnancy.

Thanks in advance

Hi!
Sorry for the delay.  If your girlfriend was my patient, I would tell her that she is probably fine.  The pill is 99% effective if used properly.  Taking the morning after pill would provide additional protection, but probably isn't necessary.
This forum is not intended to be construed as individual medical advice, so I would strongly recommend that your girlfriend consult her own physician.
Before getting angry, please read all of the fine print.

Good luck!

I agree with you, it's a little ridiculous to pay money for getting no response! I am not a doctor but... I would just like to say the Morning After pill is just like a birth control pill but in higher dose. The side effects can be similar to what a person may feel taking regular birth control. This includes nausea, fatigue, dizziness etc. It really just depends on the individual. The Morning After Pill will not end a pregnancy in progress only prevents one from occurring.

If she decides not to take it then she can take a pregnancy test as soon as 5 days before her expected period to see if she is pregnant. Just make sure to use the Early dectection tests. Good luck!

I'm not a doctor but I'm sorry that one hasn't gotten in touch with u. She can go to a doctor and get some blood drawn to find out the hcg level (pregnancy hormone). And I would say she has a good chance of not becoming pregnant with how long she has been on bc. But u honestly never know. I'm sorry I can't be much help.

This is ridiculous I paid 22 dollars for this, but 2 days later have no response, and the timetable for taking the morning after pill is 72 hours.
