Found out I was pregnant on July 2,2009 hcg level showed 2079. LMP was May 26 making me 6.2 wks. On July 9 started having brown spotting with clumpy dark red "strings". Throughout the evening, the amount got worse but the coloring stayed between brown/light red. Some cramping felt. Called Dr. ordered stat hcg level- came out 1928. Came in for US on the same day, could see uterus with embryo having a strong heart beat measuring 5w3d. Dr sent me home to repeat hcg levels in 4 days. Woke up this morning and I am still cramping and having to change my mini pad everytime I use the restroom. Color and consistency has stayed the same. Any suggestions/stories would be very helpful because the anxiety is not good right now.
My best suggestion would be to stay in bed with your feet elevated as much as possible, and try to get some rest!!
You have a heartbeat, so I've read that you have a 90% chance of maintaining a healthy pregnancy.
I agree with the previous poster... relax andput your feet up... this may just be a stressful time for this little baby.

Thank you so much for encouraging words. Unfortunately my bleeding has continued now for 35 hours getting redder and darker. When I wipe, I see "stuff". What is it exactly, I don't know. I don't want to become a burden on my OB, beings that we did the stat hcg and US yesterday at this time. I just wonder what my hcg levels are looking like right now. Can't go until Monday to them again.
honey, get yourself medically checked out immediately. i had heavy bleeding earlier in this pregnancy and i didn't hesitate to go to er ( drs were shut). mine was due to bleeding in and under baby's sac. i was threatening a miscarriage. all we could do was wait and see, it was a 50/50 thing as this sort of bleeding usually is. best of luck and keep us posted.
Well saga continues...bleeding alot heavier. Going on now for 48 hours. Hcg level dropped from 2079 to 1928 now to 1831. US still shows strong heartbeat at 5w 5d. BUT my uterus is filled with blood, cervix is closed. Legally can't do D&C because there is still a heartbeat but the discharge is in copious amounts with "particles". They started me on Progesterone yesterday. Has anyone ever heard of this? My OB is baffled and said I will probably lose this pregnancy because of my levels but the baby is hanging on. Another tidbit...baby is measuring 5w5d but heartbeat is measuring that of a 7-8 week fetus. So many questions and concerns.
Update: still bleeding, dark red now, cervical check shows fingertip dilation, US shows heartbeat, hcg level still dropping now to 1801, cramping is continuing. All the anxiety is not good. How far down can the hcg levels go and still have a viable fetus? I am now 6 weeks.
I really can't answer that question and I doubt anyone can..thats just gonna be up to the baby. I know its impossible at this time but do your best not to stress and continue to keep yourself on bed rest as much as possible. My prayers and with you and your little one.
Update: bleeding has slowed, passed a couple of clots, US still shows strong heartbeat. Appt on Thursday. Today really bad cramping and lower back pain. Real dizzy and having hot flashes. Just wish this could have turned out to be normal either way. This limbo is driving me insane.
I am sorry to hear that you are having such a tough time but at least your little bean is holding on!
Trust me you would rather be in limbo..and have a chance of your baby making it!!! I know its rough but don't give up hope on your little one. I'm sure this is alot to bare but hang in there...
Well, the news came in tonight. I was actually pregnant with identical twins. One died last week when the bleeding started. I passed it today. Went in to do US. The remaining fetus has dislodged from the top of the fundus and dropped to the opening of the cervix. The fetus still has cardiac activity but it is measuring 6w3d the heart is measuring 9-10w. The heart is 75% of the body. It is genetically deformed. The twin that died was probably worse off than the remaining one. The hcg levels dropped because I was losing the first one. The levels then went up because of the remaining one. My husband and I did alot of soul searching and decided that since this will end up in another miscarriage, we scheduled the d&c for the end of this week. My heart is absolutely broken but God has a way of working things out. Good luck to all of you. Thank you for being very supportive and all the encouraging words.
When I was reading your post a few days ago, I was thinking that possibly there was a twin that didn't make it and sure enough, that was the case. I am just so very sorry that the other twin isn't going to make it either.
