Contraception - NuvaRing

I started the NuvaRing for the first time, I  inserted 18 days after the start of my period ( or 15 days after the end of my period) and it has been in for 12 days consecutively. I had unprotected sex on the 12th day of having the NuvaRing in, at this point is it an effective form of birth control ?

I'm Not sure, but I don't trust that thing at ALL. I used mine exactly the way I was suppose to and I am now 24 weeks pregnant. I also have two friends that are now pregnant also after using NuvaRing.

They usually want you to put it in the day you stop your period. Then since its your first time having it in, they usually say wait the full 21 days for it to be effective. Although, myself and many people I know have gotten pregnant on Nuvaring.
